Placements and Internships

3

  • IIM Kozhikode has maintained a 100% placement record over the years. Some of the biggest companies from the Consulting, FMCG, Human Resource, Finance and Marketing sectors in the world recruit students at fantastic salaries.
  • In 2012, 30% of the jobs taken up by students had sales and marketing profiles, with many opting for finance too.
  • Top recruiters at IIM K are normally Nomura, Deutsche Bank, Merrill Lynch, JP Morgan, Bank of America, Goldman Sachs, ICICI, Edelweiss, HUL, etc.
  • The highest salary offered in 2012 was Rs.32 lakh per annum, and the average salary is believed to be around 15-16 lakhs.
  • Global Power house brands like Deutche bank, Citibank, softdrinks majors, MNCs and even a top tier IPL team, have made summer internship offers to 343 students of its PGP programme. Some popular marketing firms that recruited IIM-Kozhikode students in large number are Hindustan Unilever Limited, ITC limited and Marico. Students of finance field were picked up by American Express, Deutsche Bank, Citi Bank, and Goldman Sachs. Companies from other sectors, like general management, HR and consulting also visited the company.

College Infrastructure and Hostel Facilities

4

  • The classrooms are well-maintained and spacious, though, and the hostels are really good as well. The library is said to be fully automated and very well-equipped. IIM Kozhikode has a unique rain-water harvesting system, which takes care of all their water needs.
  • Although the crowd consists predominantly of engineers, they aren’t the stereotypical ‘drowned in books’ kind. There are parties every week, and they celebrate each and every festival enthusiastically. K-dio is the unique in-house radio station at IIMK, a brilliant initiative, and it plays music from various genres all night long. ‘Face-off’.

Academics and Faculty

4

  • Indian Institute of Management, Kozhikode (IIM K) is built over 100 acres of land, on the slopes of the Western Ghats in suburban Kozhikode. Although the campus is picturesque and beautiful, the inaccessibility of the location is often blamed for the fact that IIMK doesn’t attract faculty as good as Ahmedabad and Bangalore.
  • The classrooms are well-maintained and spacious, though, and the hostels are really good as well. The library is fully automated and very well-equipped. The faculty is highly qualified and highly experienced. Although most of the faculty is visiting, the quality is not compromised. The course is more practical and case-based approach is implemented. IIM K being located away from the industrial belt has a different approach from the other IIMs.

Fees and Scholarships

3.5

  • College fees for two years is 13 Lakhs, but an average student spends about 15-18 Lakhs including living and leisure expenses. There are many banks which provide educational loans for the same at Indian Institute of Management, [IIM] Kozhikode.
  • College also provides a scholarship to top 10%. Apart from that, various goverment and private scholarship forms are also out there.

Entrance Exams & Admissions : Indian Institute of Management Kozhikode takes CAT scores as qualification criteria. It first declares an initial shortlist which includes everyone who has scored above a certain percentile in CAT. The initial shortlist candidates are required to fill in their academic details and discipline. IIM Kozhikode then declares another shortlist based on these criteria plus CAT score with different weights to components. The shortlisted students are required to go through written aptitude test followed by group discussion and interview. Each of these has different weights in final selection along with CAT score.

Entrance Exams & Admissions : Eligibility criteria for IIM is a bachelor's degree in any discipline, although around 80-85% of the students who actually made it in here are engineers, from primarily IITs, NITs, etc My batch(2016-18) also has CAs, Doctors, commerce graduates and other students from other backgrounds as well. Entrance Exam is for getting into IIM is the CAT exam. It takes place during October and November every year. Cutoffs in IIM are typically to score 98 percentile and above in CAT and then wait for an interview call from IIM. But weightage is given to attributes to like work experience, academic diversity, gender diversity etc. Huge weightage is attributed to the interview process(around 40-60%, on a dynamic basis every year ).
