Academics and Faculty

  • Manipal Institute of Technology provides a vast variety of choices when it comes to choosing a career in different fields of Engineering. The courses offered by the Institute are exhaustive in the list and even include choices like Computer and Communication, Mechatronics, Print and Media Technology etc. All these courses are based on the latest syllabus followed all across India and they are also kept up to date by reviewing them from time to time. The teaching process followed is highly effective as all that is being taught is linked with practical examples so as to build the imagination of the students and to help them in learning things practically. The weekly labs also have experiments which run in conjunction with the things being taught in class and thus help students in practically understanding concepts.

  •  All the classrooms are fitted with projector screens and teachers use them efficiently to practically explain everything that is being taught in class using slides and videos. Teachers have a strong connection with students and welcome doubt clearing sessions from students anytime during the academic hours and not just in the classrooms, thus helping out the students in every way possible. Outside the academic hours also students can contact teachers on their phones and every teacher follows the tradition of giving out their phone numbers to the students in class in case any help is needed. The projects undertaken by students are highly supported and the teachers are ever-ready to guide them through any difficulties.

  •  The students are subjected to biweekly tests in individual subjects which form part of their final grades also. This helps them in keeping up to date with the concepts being taught each week. The college also conducts two sessionals of twenty marks each, which are conducted at the interval of one and a half to two months during the semester. The rest of the marks are for the final end semester exams which are conducted at the end of the semester and are the most important of all tests and exams. This all together forms the grade of the student.

  • In conclusion, I can say that Manipal Institute of Technology follows a sound method for making its students academically strong and the teachers and the faculty are also an icing on the cake.

Clubs and Associations

  • Manipal Institute of Technology has a wide and strong network of student bodies and clubs that attract students from all disciplines and that cut across different courses and nationalities. It is one of the features that give our college with a singular charm, a unique advantage over other college campuses.
  • The college has technical clubs for those students who are academically inclined and these clubs allow them to gain even more knowledge than classroom courses; there are cultural clubs that give a student the opportunity to excel in the fine arts, music, dance, theater – everything that feeds the mind and spirit. The college also has clubs such as the photography club for building different hobbies of the students. Then there are social welfare clubs which carries out social welfare tasks such as the scholarship program for underprivileged students, girl child welfare fund etc. All these clubs are under the guidance of individual faculty members of the college to ensure their smooth functioning. The clubs also work in collaboration with the local social governing bodies thus helping in achieving the objectives set forth by the clubs.
  • The college also has three large sports ground each for football, cricket, and hockey. The cricket ground also has a jogging track and so is also used for all the athletic events as well. The college also has separate courts for basketball, badminton, lawn tennis etc. which are located inside the campus premises.
  • The college also has provided the faculty and students with a six level, centrally cooled state-of-the-art sports complex named Marena. It is one of the largest and best-equipped sports centers in the country and is aimed at maintaining the fitness level of the students and staff of the college. It includes a 200-metre jogging track, a gymnasium with specific equipment for specific exercises, four squash courts, a basketball court built to NBA specifications, five badminton courts, a playing area for futsal, a cricket bowling machine, a kinesis circuit system and five enclosures for simulation games, a sauna and steam bath all under one roof.
  • In conclusion, I can say that Manipal Institute of Technology has a vast network of professional, arts and cultural clubs that ensure the social development of the students. And the state-of-the-art sports infrastructure ensures that students get to play whichever sports they are interested in.

Entrance Exams & Admissions : Manipal Academy of Higher Education (MAHE) conducts an entrance examination of its own widely known as the 'MUOET'. The entrance is a straightforward examination with fundamental questions from all the 3 subjects (Physics, Chemistry, Maths) and gives a substantial weightage to the English section. The test is conducted at certain city centers throughout the country in a timed online format.  Among other mainstream exams like JEE and BITS entrances, MUOET is definitely an easier approach towards engineering if you're more aware of your scientific grassroots.  A typical cut off would for the most sought after technical branch, i.e. Computer Science Engineering, would be 130/200. Manipal Entrance does not provide any reservations of any kind therefore one doesn't need to worry about being sidelined by the different quotas found in the rest of the educa
