Placements and Internships

3

The placement cell of the Institute provides some internship opportunities from semester to semester however most of these are available during summers itself, owing to the giant 2-month break. However, these opportunities are few and limited to certain domain areas like coding and software development.

As far as placements are concerned, the season begins in the 7th semester wherein the recruiting companies begin with their processes. The salary figures begin from 5 LPA and are seen as towering as much as 20 LPA if not more to the select prodigies.

The jobs and roles differ from branch to branch however it's seen that most of the well-known companies of the likes of Deloitte and Amadeus generally have the same profiles for all their candidates. Other than these some globally known brands like Honeywell, FutureFirst and Goldman Sachs also recruit from the campus offering a minimum of 9LPA on their CTC.

All said and done, the Institute boasts of a large and globally present alumni network that has a high number of active members.

College Infrastructure and Hostel Facilities

3.5

Infrastructurally, Manipal Institute of Technology is one of the best campuses throughout the country. There are some 20-22 hostels dedicated to students of all courses and 5 food courts and mess facilities. The hostel fee ranges from 50k a year to about 1.8 lakh depending on the facilities provided.

The hostel mess provides a wide variety of food, both North Indian and South Indian, and are comfortably located throughout the campus. The cost of the food is included within the hostel fee itself. There are various accommodation options outside the college as well at comparable rates.

One of the strongpoints that the college has is the infrastructural developments in the academic area. The campus is huge and has every facility required for research and experimentation. With the best state of the art equipments available to the faculty and students and the latest software bundles at their disposal, the college ranks in the top tier of the nation's engineering and scientific research.

A 4 storeyed fully equipped library provides for all the answers that an enthusiast engineer seeks, only if he/she understands what they are looking for. With best journals and publications from across the country, this is one of the biggest assets of the college.

Entrance Exams and Admissions

Manipal Academy of Higher Education (MAHE) conducts an entrance examination of its own widely known as the 'MUOET'. The entrance is a straightforward examination with fundamental questions from all the 3 subjects (Physics, Chemistry, Maths) and gives a substantial weightage to the English section. The test is conducted at certain city centers throughout the country in a timed online format.  Among other mainstream exams like JEE and BITS entrances, MUOET is definitely an easier approach towards engineering if you're more aware of your scientific grassroots.

A typical cut off would for the most sought after technical branch, i.e. Computer Science Engineering, would be 130/200. Manipal Entrance does not provide any reservations of any kind therefore one doesn't need to worry about being sidelined by the different quotas found in the rest of the educational institutes in India.

Academics and Faculty

1

The college has a rather congested daily routine with classes beginning as early as 8 AM to all through 5:30 PM. Hour-long classes with small breaks in between are quite tiresome and dull.

There are weekly quizzes conducted on a surprise basis however they come off as more of a shock instead. There are 2 internal assessment tests in the middle of the semester and account for half the final result.

Fees and Scholarships

3

Manipal Institute of Technology, [MIT] Manipal University Fee Structure. The course fee is about INR 3.85 Lakh.

A few scholarships are offered by the institute which can be found out on their web portal however they are extremely competitive, and perfect for the deserving candidate.

A significant number of students take benefits from the educational loans provided by banks and the ICICI bank is affiliated to most of the Institute's expenses. Almost all major banks provide a cover of the complete educational expense at a decent rate of interest. Notable mentions would be the State Bank of India, Canara Bank, and ICICI Bank.

Clubs and Associations

4.5

The campus has a large student community involved in every activity that is possible to have. From gaming to astronomy to dramatics to fine arts, every kind of student group is available on the campus.

The campus holds two main student festivals, a tech fest and a cultural one. Both of these festivals are completely student-organized and provide great exposure to students in terms of learning and organizing by themselves.

The college life after 5:30 PM is generally easy going with a vast options of activities to choose from. The student community is huge and it's hard to feel left out even if you have an extremely niche of interests. There's also a club solely for the purpose of watching movies. So there's something for everyone to do.
