- Indian Institute of Technology, Ropar was established in the year 2008 with an aim to produce world class engineers who would establish themselves in the higher echelons of any field they venture into. It began with offering B.Tech in three mainstream engineering disciplines, namely, Computer Science & Engineering, Electrical Engineering, and Mechanical Engineering, with its first year of operation at IIT Delhi. Currently operational at the transit campus in Rupnagar (Punjab), the institute excels in myriad fields of study at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels.
- The pioneering batch of the institute graduates in July 2012 and it is a matter of great pleasure for the institute to take this opportunity to invite potential key companies to experience and evaluate the dexterities, competency, skills and talent of our students and absorb them into their esteemed organisations.
College Infrastructure and Hostel Facilities
- Indian Institute of Technology, Ropar currently running in a temporary campus in Ropar. Currently, it has a good housing facility and has good cricket, hockey, and football field.
Academics and Faculty
- Established with the inception of Indian Institute of Technology, Ropar in 2008, the Department of Mechanical Engineering was re-organized as the School of Mechanical, Materials and Energy Engineering (SMMEE) in 2010 to encourage interdisciplinary research. The school currently offers UG and Ph. D programs in Mechanical Engineering. The school has a dedicated faculty in all the major areas of mechanical engineering such as design and analysis, fluids and thermal engineering, materials, and manufacturing. In addition to the conventional core courses, the school offers state-of-the-art courses such as product design and realization, sustainability for engineers, continuum mechanics, medical devices and equipments, biomechanics, control engineering, noise and vibration, finite element analysis, energy science and technology, robotics and mechatronics, micro-manufacturing, and tribology. The laboratories have been set up with modern facilities for strengthening teaching and research.
