Placements and Internships

3

I haven't done any internship as such. The placements are very scarce with only a few companies recruiting on campus. Mostly companies like Ernst &Young, Citibank, etc. offer placements in IT & Management roles. The alumni network is quiet strong.

College Infrastructure and Hostel Facilities

4

There is just one Boys hostel on-campus. But ample housing options are available outside. Many PG's are available. The food in the college is among the best in Mumbai. There is a full-fledged canteen providing food at reasonable costs. The quality of classrooms can be a little better. Labs are good. There are two libraries (lending & reference) which contain more than 20,000 books. Wi-Fi connectivity is provided on-campus. There is also a basketball court & volleyball court. A Gymkhana is present with all gym equipments.

Entrance Exams and Admissions

The Eligibility criteria for admission was that the student should have cleared the 12th Boards Exam with 55% or more. No Entrance test. The typical cut-off for my course is around 90% in 12th Boards.

Academics and Faculty

4.5

The class timings are from 8:00 am to 2:40 pm. Not many research projects are undertaken as such. The exam pattern is different from the university as it is an autonomous institute. There are two 20 marks Unit tests and an End Sem exam every Semester. Quality of teaching is quiet good. The Physics department is the only problem. Mostly AV method of teaching is practised. The overall experience for me has been quiet good.

Fees and Scholarships

5

The course fee is negligible. It is around Rs.6000 p.a. for my course. Scholarship options are also available for financially weak students. All of the backward class students are eligible for Tuition fee waiver.

Clubs and Associations

4

Many Clubs and student societies are present on-campus. The college is full of festivals and events. 'Malhar' is the second biggest college festival in Asia. Many other events and festivals are organized every year. College life is quiet fun here.

Entrance Exams & Admissions : Adequate board exams percentage is the criteria for admission to St Xavier's bachelor of science. Typically the percentage should be above 85% as this is a top rated University and picks only the creme de la creme of students across India as well as abroad.
