Placements and Internships

3

  • I had taken internships at a Government of India's technical training institute called Apex Hi-Tech Institute in Bengaluru. I don't have any stipends as such as I have not taken any internships in any company. The college does not provide any internship opportunity as such. We need to search for internships for ourselves and the college provides us with the recommendation letter and bonafide certificate for the company to verify.

  • The key recruiting companies are Accenture, Infosys, HCL, and Cognizant. Generally, students of any engineering stream get placed in IT companies. The jobs in other roles like Manufacturing, Finance, Sales, and Marketing are limited. The number of students getting selected for such roles is around 5%.

  • Average salary figures are around 3 lakhs to 4 lakhs per annum. The highest salary figures are around 10 lakhs per annum. The percentage of students getting placed are around 70-80% of the total batch depending on the eligibility of the company.

College Infrastructure and Hostel Facilities

3

  • There are 5 hostels of the college. Hostels are decent and spacious enough to stay and keep your stuff. The hostel fee varies with the type of hostel taken. It varies from INR 90,000 to 1,00,000 per year.

  • There are many PGs around the college and their cost is about 5000 to 6000 per month(including food). The PGs are decent enough to stay and they are within 500-800 meter radius from the college.

  • The food in the college is satisfactory, some food items are not that tasty. Per meal might cost about Rs.60 to Rs. 70. The meal can be compared to the rates of the hotels outside the college and are relatively same.

  • Classrooms have the capacity to fill the required number of students. Some classrooms don't have proper ventilation, tube lights, and fans. SThe Labs might be having all the equipment required to be done as per the syllabus but some apparatus might not be in working condition. Libraries are not updated with new books and the number of books is limited to some authors. The Library policy of allowing only 1 book is a drawback. Dining halls are not spacious to fill all the students at the same time. The food in the hostel mess is tasty enough for eating till our heart's content. Wi-Fi facility of the college is only applicable to using laptops. Mobiles can't be connected to the Wi-Fi network. Still, for students, it can be helpful to concentrate on studies. Wi-Fi speed is about 512KBps to 1MBps.

Entrance Exams and Admissions

  • The eligibility criteria for my course was that I had to complete my 12th standard in school. The procedure was we had to provide our marks card of 10th & 12th standard respectively. We had to provide our entrance examination seat allotment copy as proof for admission in the college. We had to provide all our details (including parents) so as to show the proper transparency of ourselves.

  • I had taken an entrance examination called K-CET(Karnataka- Common Entrance Test) to join the course. This entrance examination can be taken by only the students of Karnataka. Students who want to study in this college can write COMEDK (Consortium of Medical, Engineering and Dental Colleges of Karnataka).

  • The typical cutoffs vary every year depending on the number of students who take up the entrance examination. The seat is alloted based on the choice of the student, the server allots the seat as per the seat availability in the respective college. For General Merit students, KCET cutoffs would be around 5000 to 6000 rank.

Academics and Faculty

3.5

The daily routine varies every day. College starts at 9 AM and ends at 3 PM on normal days. If there are labs and classes on the same day, college ends at 5 PM.

Projects are generally done in the last year of Engineering. Internals are taken in the 2nd, 3rd and 4th month of the semester and we have our  externals in June-July and December-January of every year. We get semester holidays of about 20-30 days after every semester examinations.

The method of teaching is conventional method of teaching. The quality of teaching is not consistent but teachers do take efforts in making you understand the topic.

The overall experience in college is satisfactory. The college needs to improve on many stances but you can study well in the college.

Fees and Scholarships

2

  • The course fee per year varies for the student who joined. A K-CET student has to INR 65,000 to 70,000 per year, COMEDK students need to pay INR 1,75,000 per year and Management students need to pay INR 2,35,000 per year.

  • There are no scholarship options as per my knowledge. Barely any student gets the scholarship in my University.

  • Students who could not afford the fees have taken loans. If the student is a K-CET or COMEDK student, loans can be availed easily by showing your seat allotment form to the banks and Nationalised banks provide loans quicker compared to Private banks.

Clubs and Associations

4

  • There are many student societies in the college. The associations form teams to participate in various competitions worldwide. The clubs have various students who can participate to be associated with all the activities happening in the college. The clubs comprise of technical, entrepreneurship, cultural and sports based category. The most famous student association is DSI-Connective Plus which briefs about the monthly happenings of the college.

  • The main festivals on the campus are generally Furore, Vibrations, and various sports meets. There are regular sports meets which can be useful for students who want to take up sports as their dream and goal for the future.

  • The college life, in general, is a satisfactory and  a happy one. We can take part in the college festivals and explore our talents. The academics is good with many students getting distinctions.
