Placements and Internships
- The first placement process that we had to go through was the summer internship process and in our year it was 100 percent.
- Some of the most prominent companies like JP Morgan, Mahindra & Mahindra, Flipkart, HSBC, ICICI etc visit Indian Institute of Management for placements and also PSU like HPCL participated in the Summer Internship Process.
- Even for our seniors, the final placements was outstanding.
- Companies like Google, Deloitte, L'Oreal, SBI Caps, JP Morgan, Amazon and much more visited our campus for the final placement.
Academics and Faculty
- The academic schedule of IIM Shillong is rigorous and the environment is such that every student of this institute learns the importance of time management which is essential in the corporate world.
- The normal class timings are from 9 AM- 6 PM but since it is a residential course the classes are sometimes extended.
- Many live projects are given to us which help us in having an idea about the problems faced in the real corporate world. While in the first year we are given an idea about every domain of management and in the 2nd year we have the liberty to choose our domain/domains of interest.
- The number of electives given to us is about 85 which includes important subjects like Sustainable Management (one of the few institutes which concentrate in this area).
- The small batch size of our institute leads to more focus and better mentoring by teachers.
- We are even facilitated by visiting faculties to give us a better industry exposure.
Fees and Scholarships
- To do PGDM from IIM Shillong students pay a rough estimate of about Rs. 12 lakhs for the whole course, as college fees.
- While this may sound a lot but PGDM from IIMs are costly but its worth it. In a way its an investment rather than spending.
- The students can avail student loans from many banks like Central Bank of India, SBI, Canara bank and much more and a student can avail loans up to Rs. 20 lakhs.
- There are many scholarships which are offered for meritorious and needful students.
Clubs and Associations
- IIM Shillong is a student driven institute. Every issues related to IT infrastructure, hostel, student mentoring, placements e.t.c are handled by students for which we have different committees: 1) Placement Committee 2) Public Relation Cell 3) Hostel Committee 4) IT Committee 5) Symphony 6) Alumni Committee 7) Cultural Committee These seven committees are the backbone which in a way runs the college. And every committee has faculty advisors which help the committees to be on track.
- We have professional clubs for almost every domain where student as an individual has an opportunity to grow themselves in their specific areas of interest. The clubs include: 1) Finance 2) Marketing Club 3) HR Club 4) Operations Club 5) Systems club 6) Consulting Club 7) Golf Club 8) Koutuhal 9) Eco Biz 10) i-cube Every club has their own agenda and they conduct competitions and exercises both inter and intra college so that the students are always in touch with the newest innovations and models in the business world.
- Clubs like Golf club is a unique one, weekends are spent learning golf.
