RRB NTPC 2023 Typing Skill Test Instructions

RRBs have issued the following directions for the RRB NTPC Typing Skill Test:

  • Participants must type a minimum of 300 words in English or 250 words in Hindi.
  • Participants must type in English or Hindi, depending on the choice selected on RRB websites. Those who have not exercised their option will type in English. Participants who have chosen Hindi as their typing language must be familiar with the Krutidev or Mangal fonts.
  • The examination session is divided into three sections: typing practice for 1 minute to warm up and get acquainted with the keyboard, a 30-second break, and a 10-minute typing test for evaluation.
  • Since the purpose of the skill test is to measure speed, students who have completed the passage may retype it from the beginning within the time limit of the exam, i.e. 10 minutes. Students who fail to type the entire paragraph at least once in 10 minutes will be disqualified. Applicants' transcripts will not be reviewed if they do not type 300 words in English or 250 words in Hindi within the time limit.
  • The following criteria will be used to evaluate the candidate's typed passage:
  • The errors will be categorised as complete or partial mistakes. 5% of the total number of words written may be disregarded. As a result, the total number of errors will be determined as follows:
  • Total Mistakes = number of full mistakes + number of half mistakes divided by two.
  • Number of errors - 5% of total number of words written = Total number of errors
  • The following formula will be used to calculate the candidate's typing speed:
  1. Typing Speed = total number of words written - (final number of errors x 10)/time
  • As an example: If a candidate writes 400 words in 10 minutes and makes 10 errors, his speed is calculated as follows:
  1. 400-(10x10)/10= 300/10 = 30 w.p.m
  • The minimal pace in English should be 30 words per minute and 25 words per minute in Hindi.
