Vartak College Vasai was established in the year 1970 by the Late Padmashri Bhausaheb Vartak who was a well-known devoted social worker in the region. The College provides an opportunity for all the students in the vicinity of Vasai and adjoining areas, affordable quality college education. Vartak College is affiliated with the University of Mumbai.

Today Vidyavardhini has developed into an institution of reputation with three Degree school, Engineering Degree College and B. V. Polytechnic offering Diplomas in a different branch of Engineering. The aim of the institution is to give quality education as well as a comprehensive improvement of personality. Under the direction of the Present President of Vidyavardhini Pratapbhai Khokhani, Vidyavardhini has taken enormous steps to make the institution extraordinary as compared to other Colleges in Maharashtra.

There is a library inside the College which was established in 1971. Earlier, the College library was on the third floor of the main building of the college. Later it was transferred to the ground floor. The total area of the library was 4000 sq. ft. More highlights about the College are mentioned below.

Vartak College offers various courses in the field of Arts, Science and Commerce. The College has three years of undergraduate courses and two years of postgraduate courses semester wise. Courses with Specializations are mentioned below:

B.Sc in Biotechnology:

Vartak College Vasai provides a Bachelor of Science in Biotechnology. The origin of Biotechnology can be followed back to ancient occasions. Biotechnology is a science of Combination between Biology and Technology. It is considered that Biotechnology may become a primary force for human existence in the future and this field will provide basic support to the development of industries, diagnosis, prevention, and control of several diseases. Biotechnology will provide answers to the problems related to environmental degradation and its control.

B.Com in Banking and Insurance:

Vartak College Vasai has a degree course in Banking and Insurance for the students who aspire to make a career in Banking and Insurance. This course will give the student, a greater in-depth knowledge of different features of Banking, Insurance, and other financial services understanding of the practical application of the theory. The Banking & Insurance degree aims to provide training and practical approach among the students by using modern technologies and also to give sufficient exposure to the operational environment in the field of Banking, Insurance, and other related financial services.

M.Sc in Information Technology:

Vartak College has a Master's degree course in Information Technology. The main purpose of the course is to focus on technological tools and how they can be applied to the developmental processes. The several concepts include Simulation, Mobile Computing, Networking, Artificial Intelligence, Distributed Computing, Multimedia, Data warehousing, Data mining, Digital Image Processing, Digital Signal Processing, Speech Recognition, Software Architecture, and so on.

The College has a Scholarship program for Economically Backward Class Students and also for the merit students. The Following are the Scholarship programs available in the College.

• In Aided Academic Courses there is Late Padmashree Bhausaheeb Vartak Scholarship, this scholarship is awarded to Adivasi Student.
• The students who belong to the Economically Backward Class can avail of Free-Studentship.
• The special educational concessions to the children, wives, and widows of the Defence Service Personnel
• There is Monetary help from the Students Mutual Aid Fund is granted, to the needy and very poor students of the college to meet traveling or other expenses.

• There is a scholarship program on behalf of the State Government which is the State Government Open Merit Scholarship program.

Vartak College provides several facilities to its students and staff including a library which was established in 1971. The total area of the library is 4000 sq. ft. The other facilities provided by the college is mentioned below:

• The College has a well-furnished Management Room which is available on the 1st floor of the Old building for meetings.
• There are three different Physics laboratories for the students of the first year, second year, and third year. This department was established in 1971
• The College has 3 laboratories utilizing for the first year, the second year, and third-year Botany, and Zoology Practicals. Research work, there is a separate research lab.
• The Computer Lab, situated on the third floor of the main building, was established in the year 1999. The center has 5 well-equipped laboratories, one storeroom, and a well-designed seminar hall with a seating capacity of 60. The laboratory has about 100 desktops, is well connected by the Local Area Network.
• There is a Gym center inside the College Various gyming types of equipment are available for the students. Different playing items are made available to the students for enjoyment and to refresh their minds.
• The College has also a Chemistry lab, a Biotechnology Lab, and a separate staff room for the College Staffs.
• The College ground is used for the different inter-college fest to happen, it is used for playing different outdoor games.
• The College has Canteen which is run by Shree Mahila Vikas Sangh(Vasai), Healthy and nutritious food is served to the students.
• The closed-circuit television (CCTV) in college premises are well used for better monitoring and security purpose.
