Facilities :-

Central Library

The state-of-the-art Library of Supreme Knowledge Foundation Group of Institutions is a learning resource centre of the Institute that meets the requirements of the students and teachers with respect to the academic programmes and syllabi of WBUT. The Library provides them with modern and technologically advanced amenities with respect to books, journals, E-sources as well as live-coverage of special lectures and seminars.

The Library is situated in the heart of the academic complex of the Institute, in the Ground Floor of the main building. The Library has a collection of over 2000 titles and over 39,000 volumes. Besides the printed journals, the Library subscribes to several on-line IEEE, IET, WILEY and other journals and provides access to IEEE online database. The functions and services of the Library are fully computerised and the students are provided with digital library facility. Besides the general lending, the students are also entitled to accessing books from the Book Bank of the Library and retaining them for a defined semester. It has a well maintained stock of CD- ROMs, DVDs, Project Reports, Theses, and the like. The students are given access to fully automated circulation facilities through LIBSYS Software package (an integrated multi-user library system). The Library remains open even beyond the Institute hours for the benefit of students and teachers. Further, in order to promote awareness about the Library among the users, the Library organises Exhibitions on various subjects at regular intervals.

Computer Center

The Computer Laboratory of the Department of Computer Science and Engineering provides the ‘Computer Centre’ to the Institute. The Centre, in turn, provides the Internet facilities of 3Mbps bandwidth. The Wi-Fi service, provided through six powerful antennas, is available for all the students and teachers of the Institute, which covers the Institute Administrative Office, the Departments, Boys Hostel, Girls Hostel, and Guest House. Further, the Centre is equipped with the facilities such as High-End Server, modern online UPS, 150 modern P-IV PCs and 300 modern I-3 PCs (Lenovo Think Centre) with 100 Mbps LAN facilities for all the computer and supporting accessories like Dot Matrix Printers, LaserJet Printer, DVD Writers, Scanners, LCD Projectors, etc. The software’s of the Centre include 6 operating system Windows 2008, Windows 2007, Windows Vista, Windows XP (all Windows operating systems under Microsoft Campus License), Linux, Fedora and 36 application software: Visual Studio 2010, Office 2007/ 2010, Turbo C++ 4.5, Java, Lab view, Etap, My power, Multi Sim, Caspic, PiceSpice, Tech- MO , Tech-Term, Tanner, Code Composer Studio, Xilinx, etc. The Institute is served by an Internet leased line connection at a speed of 4 MBPS (1:1). Further, the Institute has started developing a centralized computer network. One central server room has been developed and all academic departments, library, administration, accounts department and the hostel will be connected with Central Control Server with fibre optics backbone cable through Smart Layer III switch. All departmental labs will be connected through smart Layer II switch.

Laboratories

The Laboratories are maintained in perfect order with all modern equipment, at par with those of any premier institution of the country. They not only provide all experimental setups conforming to the WBUT Syllabus but also have facilities for developing innovative measurements. Students can perform simulation experiments as well. The institute has separate Language Laboratory even at the first semester for developing communication skill. The Institute has a spacious Workshop that maintains the norms of approved and affiliating body, providing adequate facilities to students. They can also execute academic and research projects, under the guidance of the faculty members. As and when required, the Institute extends to students external facilities for executing their projects through collaborative understanding of the Institute with R&D laboratories and industries in the country.

Language Laboratory

Students have access to the Language Laboratory which is equipped with the facilities as per the norms of WBUT, which help students develop their skill in expressing their ideas. IIT- STEP, Kharagpur has further updated the Laboratory to make it one of the best of its kind in the country. In this Laboratory, students go through intensive practice in listening, reading; speaking and writing, (LRSW skills) which help them enhance their interpersonal, business, and technical communication skills.

The course offered by the state-of-the-art Laboratory includes the study of phonetics which will augment their pronunciation ability, the intonation and stress, through audio cassettes, CDs, VCDs, prepared by the professionals on the subject such as OUP, BBC and The British Institutes.

Students are encouraged to learn the language through creative and innovative methods and activities such as Group Discussions, Mock Interviews, Role Plays and Oral Presentations. Their participation in the GD and Mock Interviews are recorded and later shown to them as a feedback for the improvement of the specific skills they lack in. Students are trained in this Laboratory the method of oral presentation of their research papers at Conferences as well Further, this Laboratory encourages students to take up hardware projects on the development of the sensors for monitoring the noise levels in verbal presentations, moods of speakers, etc.

Video Conference Hall

Established in January, 2014, the Hall is equipped with high end Polycron Camera (Model HDX6000) and 40-inch LCD Toshiba Monitor and the other supporting peripherals. The facility is being used for the academic and research purpose as well as for the training and placement of students.

Swami Vivekananda Auditorium

The Institute is proud to have built its acoustically designed Auditorium dedicated to Swami Vivekananda coinciding with his 150th Birth Anniversary. The Swami Vivekananda Auditorium located on the third floor of the Institute Main Building with an audience capacity of 300 has the state-of-the-art features (such as false ceiling with glass-wool pack, followed by Gyp. board fixing; acoustical wall panelling with glass wool isolation with Gyp. board cover; Yamaha Public Address System with all accessories; and Sony O.H. Projector with 2000 ANSI Lumens XGA resolution). The Auditorium has been of great use to us in hosting national and international conferences, orientation sessions of recruiters, inter-institutional debates and scientific meets as well as social and cultural events at SKFGI.

Other Facilities :-

Medical Facilities

The Institute has a well equipped Medical Room for first-aid and primary medical treatment to provide medical assistance to only students. In case of emergency, the Institute provides facilities to move the ailing students to nearby Hospitals and Nursing Homes. The cost incurred in the medical treatment is precisely to be borne by students themselves.

Hostel

In-Campus Hostels are provided separately for the Boys and Girls admitted into the Institute subject to the availability of seats on first-come-first serve basis, giving due preference to those living far from the Institute Campus, however, holding the right of the Institute on the allotment of Hostel seats to students. A student living in the hostel has to strictly abide by the norms laid in the ‘Halls of Residence’, duly displayed in the Hostel.

Educational Loan

The Institute provides all assistances to obtain easy and prompt ‘education loan’ with the nationalized and private banks for the eligible students.

Cafeteria

The Institute Cafeteria provides on payment basis lunch and other refreshments during stipulated period within the Institute hour. This has proved to be of immense help to both day scholars and Institute Staff including teachers.
