The admission process is different for different courses at the Silicon Institute of Technology. Admissions usually depend on the candidate’s performance in the qualifying degree and entrance test. Candidates with a three-year diploma in engineering are eligible for lateral entry, i.e. direct admission to the third semester of B. Tech. Only graduates with Mathematics/ Statistics/ Business Mathematics/ Business Statistics/ Quantitative Techniques are eligible for the MCA program. In every discipline, 15% of State-quota seats are reserved for outside candidates. Any student who secures the Merit position in JEE Main gets direct admission to SIT under this provision. The remaining 85% seats (reserved for Punjab state candidates) are filled based on the JEE rank. M. Tech and MCA candidates are selected based on GATE and CMAT score respectively
