About Panihati Mahavidyalaya, [PM] Kolkata
Panihati Mahavidyalaya (Degree College and NAAC Accreditated) is located at Sodepur, Kolkata-700110 within the region of Panihati Municipality. The college is run by a duly constituted Governing body as per rules of University statute and Higher Education Dept., Govt of West Bengal. The institution has a reputation in higher learning in the entire district of North 24 Parganas of West Bengal. We are proud also for the cultural heritage of the institution.
The aim of education should be to make the students self dependent and be able to stand on their own legs. Being born is natural and automatic, being educated and that too along the right lines is something divine and great. It is something which has to be acquired through a continuous, slow and conscious process called education.
Major portion of students of this institution are coming from different place. The financial capacity of students are not at all good. So there is envisaged two types of education general education, vocational education. In addition to academic practices there are some mandatory duties for their economic development.
The faculty members are competent in teaching and they are devoted to research activity. The institution has well equipped laboratory, computerised library with so many books, well equipped multi gym, availability of UGC grant, canteen etc. In order to make education more interesting, the institution has been arranged various co-curricular, recreational and social activities such as debate competition, blood donation camp, excursion, picnic, celebration of festival, sports, annual social, gardening, different awareness programme etc. There is consideration of concession to the poor and deserving students so that they may not be deprived of education.
