The college is situated in Avoly Panchayat of Muvattupuzha taluk in the district of Ernakulam. It was founded in 1953 by His Grace Most Rev. Dr. Augustine Kandathil, Arch Bishop of Ernakulam to meet the educational needs of the eastern districts of north Travancore. Nirmala is one of the foremost colleges in Kerala with over 2700 students and over 140 faculty members spread over 16 UG programs, 14 PG programs, and 6 research programs. The college is affiliated to Mahatma Gandhi University, Kottayam and is nationally accredited by NAAC at B grade (CGPA of 2.85) in March 2013. In 2017, the college is ranked on the 91st position among all arts and science colleges in India by the Ministry of HRD, Govt. of India in the NIRF rankings. Nirmala College admission to the UG course is given through the Centralized Admission Process (CAP) conducted by Mahatma Gandhi University.

Nirmala College Admission:

Candidates seeking admission to UG or PG program shall apply online for CAP through the website of the university. Candidates should register and then fill the relevant application form available on the official website. Applicants could apply for more than one course at a time. The payment of the fee shall be done through online mode only. Nirmala College Hostel Details:
