INFRASTRUCTURE & TRANSPORTATION

  • We are having 8 hostels. Hostel fees is only Rs 2000 per month in which we get free electricity, 24 hr water supply, WiFi, common room, gym, mini library and transportation services from hostel to college. Bus facility for market on Saturday and Sunday.
  • Food bill is different. It is around Rs 15000 for 6 months. In which, we get three time food (breakfast, lunch and dinner). Lunch is offered in college mess. College mess are clean and well maintained. Mess food meal menu keeps on Changing on advice of Student authorities. Food quality is strictly monitored by students only.
  • As we are having temporary campus, still their is efficient use of available land there. Laboratories are totally new and we'll equipped. Classrooms are quite Okay but are well maintained with projector, screens, speaker and microphone. 

PLACEMENTS & ALUMNI NETWORK

  • Most of the companies are IT, followed by r & d, manufacturing, core companies and even management companies. We have 15th rank among all nits and are in top colleges of India on basis of placement only. 
  • We have almost 100% placement rate for last batch with an average package of about Rs 7 lakhs per annum. 

FEES AND SCHOLARSHIP

  • Fees is too less as compared to private colleges. Tuition fee per year is Rs 40,000.
  • Students have many chances of getting scholarship.
  • Top 5% students of batch gets tuition fees waiver. Top 5% students of batch of reserved sections also get tuition fee waiver. Apart from this, students get scholarship for projects. We have many options of national and international scholarships.

ACADEMICS & FACULTY

  • We have classes from 9 a.m to 5 p.m on weekdays(5 days). We have mostly 5 hour classes. We have to do mini projects in our second and third year with major project in final year. Projects are really exciting and challenging too. In our college, regular evolution system is there. We have one mid semester exam, one end semester exam, regular quizes (3 quiz minimum), assignments, presentations, surprise test and viva too.
  • Method of teaching is also good. Lectures are usually delivered with presentations and are mostly interactive.
  • Overall I am satisfied with the method of teaching and evaluation.

There are several student clubs like student council in which there are representatives like the President, Secretary etc. We have fests like cognitia which is our technical fest, and we have Shishir which is our cultural fest. The college life in general is very boring.

There are five hostels,one is for M.tech ,one is Phd girls, two for B.tech boys and one is for B.tech girls, hostel fee is 33,000 per year. PGs outside the campus are very expensive, the food in the hostel is very bad, it costs Rs 40 per meal, the quality of classrooms are not good,wifi is also bad, library is ok, labs are little better

SOCIAL ATMOSPHERE

  • I am lucky that I am studying in National Institute of Technology that has students from different regions of India like from Jammu and Kashmir, Bihar, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Manipur, Assam, West-Bengal, Meghalaya, etc. We get a chance to share our cultures, festivals, etc. And there is 0% case of discrimination in my college with regards to gender, ethnicity, race, religion, sexual orientation, politics and economic status. We only have student council in college as well as in each hostel to solve students problems.
  • Alcohol and other alcoholic items usage are totally banned at National Institute of Technology and it is punishable.
  • There are many restaurants around campus.

  • There are many clubs such as Computer science club, music club, sports club, in National Institute of Technology for encouraging students to take part in the various competition in their course as well as in extracurricular activities.
  • The college has student council in college as well as in each hostel to manage students problems. It also has students Training and Placement council to take care of students internships and jobs.
  • There are many sports played on campus such as cricket, football, basketball, table tennis, badminton. The college has good sports infrastructure such various sports equipment like a bat, ball, basketball, football, badminton rackets, etc.

  • A good number of hostels are available at National Institute of Technology for students with in the city. And each and every student get hostel facility.
  • Also, college helps students in looking housing outside the hostel.
  • Food mess is available in each hostel as well as in college.
  • Food quality is good.

  • National Institute of Technology is good in infrastructure.
  • It has a good quality and a good number of classrooms, labs available for students.
  • Libraries have a good number of books in the different field of education such as computer science, electrical, civil. It too has good quantity of novels and other general knowledge books.
  • It too has a good number of hostels available for students. It has big dining halls in college and in each hostel.
  • The college has Wi-Fi facilities on a college campus as well as in each hostel'.
  • It has personal transport facilities from hostel to college and to the city market. College also provides doctor and other medical facilities with in the campus. Also, students get a refund for their medical expenditure outside the college. Students also get 50% concession in railway.

  • National Institute of Technology is very active in providing internships and jobs opportunities for students. Around 50% students get internships offer through college tie up with different organisations such as VECC, BHEL, BSNL, BARC, HP, AIR, Power Grid, POSCO. And many other students get internships from outside in different organisations such IITs, NITs, IBM, HP, DRDO. Around 100% eligible students get final job offers in a different organisation such as Power grid, Amazon, RetailOn, IBM, Polaris, Nucleus Soft., Wipro, Resonance, MECL, Tata consultancy, L&T, Indian Navy, Nokia Networks & Solutions R&D, Tech Mahindra.
  • Average salary that a student gets is around 4 LPA. Around 70% of batch gets placed every year.  
  • My college has alumni network with a different organisation such as IIT Guwahati, NIT Silchar, Tezpur university.

  • National Institute of Technology is very helpful and supportive for students, both who are good at academics and who are from poor background.
  • It has its own scholarship scheme for students. Firstly, the scheme is Merit free studentship scholarship, for academically good students, having CGPA more than 8.5/10. Second, the scheme is Merit Cum Means scholarship, for students having CGPA more than 7.0 and the Gross Annual Income of a student's Parents/ Guardian from all sources in the Financial Year of 2014-15 (From 1st April 2014 to 31st March 2015) must not exceed Rs.4.50,000/-. In both the schemes, top 5% of the B. Tech students of every batch as per the eligibility criteria mentioned in both the schemes, get this scholarship every semester. Around 44 students, every semester gets these scholarships.
  • My college also helps students in getting educational loans from different banks such as SBI, UCO bank.

ACADEMICS & FACULTY

  • National Institute of Technology is an engineering college and offers different degree's in B.Tech, M.tech, M.sc, PhD, etc, in different fields such as electrical, civil, computer.
  • Its academic daily routine is very much comfortable. Normal classes timings are from 9 am to 5 pm, Monday to Friday. Students from any year can approach teachers for taking projects and teachers are very helpful in guiding students in their projects. In my college, teachers take 2-3 small class tests and 2-3 assignments per semester for testing students knowledge about their course. And there is compulsory 1 midterm examination and 1 end term examination per semester. There are many courses available in my college for engineering students of the different branch.
  • The quality and method of teaching are very good in their job of teaching. They are very knowledgeable and experts in their fields. They are always ready to help students with their studies, projects and other extracurricular activities in class and outside the class. I am proud to be in NITM.
