NIT offers various postgraduate courses such as M.Tech (Master of Technology), M.Sc (Master of Science), MA (Master of Arts), M.Tech (Research) with a specialization in Technology, Science, Arts. All the postgraduate programs are of 2 years (4 semesters) duration.

The minimum qualification required for the admission to M.Tech program is B.E/ B.Tech/ M.Sc in a relevant subject. Candidates having valid GATE card will get more preference. All departments and centers offer Ph.D program. The Minimum criteria required for admission to the program are given below.

  1. M.E/ M.Tech /M.Pharm in relevant discipline with at least 6.5 CGPA or 60% marks in aggregate in both B.Tech (or M.Sc/ M.Pharm/ MCA) and M.Tech levels from recognized Technical Institute or University.
  2. B.E/ B.Tech/ B.Pharm/ MCA or equivalent in relevant discipline with 7.0 CGPA or 65% marks in aggregate.
  3. M.Sc in Basic Sciences with 7.0 CGPA or 65% marks in aggregate in relevant disciplines.

The eligibility criteria were to qualify JEE Mains entrance examination above a particular cut-off. The cut-off is mostly based on many criteria. The criteria vary from caste, branch you are applying for and also if you are in the same state that the college is from. The cut-off for core branches is mostly between 1,000 to 5,000 AIR for General category. The cut-off for most other branches was below 40,000 AIR.
