IIT (ISM) Dhanbad Infrastructure: Library, Hostel, Labs, Gym, Auditorium & Other Facilities

IIT ISM Dhanbad is spread over 393 acres. The campus has all the required amenities, like workshops, a central library, hangout spots, cafeterias, etc. Further details regarding the IIT ISM Dhanbad infrastructure are provided below.

Central Library

• The library provides academic and researches support to all students and staff regarding reference services, semester exam preparations, project writings, research, etc.
• It is fully automated with records management, information retrieval, and service delivery. The library contains 137,725 books, 40,360 bound volumes of journals, 22 current journals, 10,967 theses and dissertations, and 50 periodic magazines.
• IIT ISM Dhanbad library also possesses e-books on a perpetual access basis from Springer, Taylor & Francis netBases.
• Students can access the library online through Online Public Access Catalog (OPAC) touch-screen kiosks connected to the library’s LAN and WebOPAC link on the library’s website. They maintain their electronic database of printed sources.
• The library maintains its official website that helps students search information through a web-based online public access catalogue (WebOPAC) on campus-wide LAN.
• It is a nodal centre to cooperate with the National Digital Library (NDL) Project headquartered at IIT Kharagpur. 

Computer Centre

• The computer centre provides information and communication technology and computer-related facilities.
• IIT ISM Dhanbad is in the process of building its best Central computing and DataBase centre to meet its computing networking needs.
• They have an augmented network line of 144 core optical fibre with 40 Gbps speed.

Central Workshop

• The IIT ISM Dhanbad facilities include a workshop that has a wide range of manufacturing facilities catering to the needs of undergraduate and postgraduate students.
• Central Workshop facilities include Forging, Carpentry, Fitting and Sheet Metalworking, Welding, Casting and Machining, Induction Melting Furnace, Gear, Surface Planer Machine, Tool & Cutter grinding machine, etc.
• There is also a Dimensional Metrology laboratory in which various linear, angular, surface flatness is available.

Health Centre

• The institute provides medical services for its students, staff, officers, and dependent family members.
• OPD and emergency services are supported by two permanent doctors and one part-time doctor.

Canteen

• The main canteen is the epicentre of most of the student activities in the college. It has a juice centre, a stationery shop for daily needs, a fruit counter, etc.
