IIT Kharagpur M.Tech Eligibility Criteria
Students who wish to apply for the IIT Kharagpur M.Tech course must have passed B.Tech/ BE or M.Sc with 60% or CPI not below 6.5 out of 10. The admission process is based on GATE. B.Tech graduates from IITs having an overall CPI of 6.5 and a minimum 8.0 CPI in the last 2 years of the program are exempted from submitting the GATE scores. GATE 2024 COAP Registration Procedure
GATE-qualified candidates must register for the GATE entrance exam, candidates are to register for the COAP counselling process to gain admission to the institute. The step-by-step process for COAP 2024 registration is given below.
- Step 1: Go to https://iitk.ac.in/coap2024/index, the official COAP website, and click on the registration link.
- Step 2: Enter information like their date of birth, GATE paper code, GATE registration number, and GATE score.
- Step 3: Enter the registered email address and phone number by clicking the "Validate" icon.
- Step 4: Select "Submit to Register" from the menu.
- Step 5: Following a successful COAP 2024 registration, candidates will receive a COAP login ID and password. Both email and SMS will be used to send the same.
- Step 6: The candidates must log in with their login ID and password and confirm the registration information in order for their COAP registration to be deemed complete.
- Step 7: The candidate can obtain information on offers made by the participating Institutes after completing the previously mentioned stages.
- Step 8: The acceptance offer will ultimately be published to the COAP website and marked with the COAP registration number (which is the same as the GATE registration number without the subject code).

Merit-Cum-Means Scholarship
These scholarships are awarded from the Institute funds. The Institute awards scholarships on the basis of merit-cum-means to all eligible students The rules and regulations of IIT Kharagpur merit scholarships are as follows –
- All students admitted to any of the courses offered by IIT Kharagpur, except the students belonging to SC and ST (who are eligible for Post Matric Scholarship of their respective State Governments), shall be eligible for the award of the Merit-Cum-Means (MCM) scholarship.
- These scholarships will be awarded to not more than 25% of the students admitted each year to the Undergraduate and Dual Degree courses of IIT Kharagpur.
- For subsequent renewals, the student’s performance in the two consecutive semesters of the preceding session, i.e. GPA, as updated after the supplementary/summer quarter examination, must not be lower than 7.00. Students will eligible for Merit-cum-Means (MCM) and other Institute Scholarships even if EAA is not completed.
- Apart from the above, IIT Kharagpur provides partial financial assistance to students enrolled in dual degree programmes and M.Sc programmes.
