Scholarships at Indian Institute of Technology, [IIT] Guwahati:

Institute Scholarships: 

The institute awards scholarships to its undergraduate and postgraduate students to recognize academic excellence, and overall growth and development of meritorious students. IIT, Guwahati Scholarships are awarded based on the recommendations of the scholarship committee of the institute and followed the norms laid down by the statutes of the institute.

Institute Merit Scholarship (IMS):

• These scholarships are available for B.Tech., B.Des., M.Sc., and M.A. students.
• Theses are meant for the year wise class toppers of all the streams and these scholarships are awarded from the second year. 
• It includes a tuition fee waiver and a fixed monthly stipend for a period of eight months.

Institute Merit-cum-Means (McM) Scholarships:

• These scholarships are awarded to B.Tech., B.Des, M.Sc, and MA students.
• It includes a tuition fee waiver and a fixed monthly stipend for a period of eight months.

SC-ST Scholarships:

• These scholarships are awarded to all B.Tech., B.Des, M.Sc, and MA students of the SC/ST categories.
• It includes a fixed monthly stipend for a period of eight months along with free messing and hostel rent waiver.
• Tuition fee is waived for all SC/ST category students.

Other Scholarships:

• The institute allows students to avail scholarships provided by external Government or non-Government organizations that do not come into conflict with rules of the institute.
• The institute accepts donations from individuals and organizations to set up scholarships according to prescribed procedures.
• The norms and conditions for the institution of such scholarships require approval from the Board of Governors.

Assistantships:

• Assistantships are given to all regular students of M.Tech, M. Des, and Ph.D. programs.
