IIM Kozhikode Scholarships

IIM Kozhikode offers various scholarships to students who fulfil certain criteria. These scholarships are offered to the students to pursue their education without any hurdles. However, candidates must meet the eligibility conditions set by the college to avail of the scholarships. The details regarding the IIM Kozhikode scholarships are given below.

  • IIMK Merit Scholarship: The merit scholarship is provided to PGP-I and PGP-II students based on their CGPA and performance over one academic year. One scholarship will be offered for every 20 students in the first and second years. The sum of the scholarship is Rs 25,000.
  • Merit-cum-Means Scholarship: The Ministry of Minority Affairs of the Indian government offers a scholarship to students from minority communities. For the preceding financial year, the maximum income ceiling is Rs.2,50,000. The IIM Kozhikode scholarship program reimburses the entire fee.
  • Kerala Government Post-Metric Scholarship: The IIM Kozhikode offers scholarships to SC students from Kerala. For the previous financial year, the maximum parental income was Rs. 2,00,000. The scholarship program covers the entire fee.
  • Rajarshee Sahu Maharaj Scholarship: The Maharashtra government offers scholarships to Maharashtra students. For the previous financial year, the maximum parental income was Rs.2,00,000. The scholarship program reimburses the entire fee.

Need based scholarship - Need based scholarship is awarded at IIMK based on family income. The scholarship can go up to full amount of tuition fee. The selection is done by a committee appointed by the Director. Category Based scholarship (SC/ST/Minorities) – Category based scholarship is awarded by respective Ministries and scholarship amount can go up to full amount of the tuition fee. Merit Scholarship Award – Top 20 students of each year awarded cash awards based on the CGPA Private Scholarships – O P Jindal Scholarship, Future Genarali Scholarship, Ratan Tata Trust scholarship etc. are awarded to students based on overall achievements by the respective trusts.

For the graduating batch of 2013, the fee was INR10.00 lakhs which was reduced to INR 9.7 lakhs for my junior batch. Financing was very easy as we had very good tie ups with Central Bank of India and Union Bank of India. They used to offer competitive interest rates somewhere between 10.25 - 10.75%. Average cost of the program turned out to be 10 lakhs plus 25K per trimester for Mess charges plus living expenses (close to 2-5K per month depending upon personal preferences). If someone opted for forex, there was an additional burden of INR 3-3.5 lakhs. So total cost of MBA turned out to somewhere between INR 12.5 - 15.5 (depending upon the decision of opting for Foreign Exchange Program).

Regarding scholarships, we had two renowned merit based scholarships in the form of OPJEMS and Aditya Birla Scholarship. Apart from these two, there were other forms of merit based and need based scholarships. To be honest here, I did not ever try to know about the existing scholarships one c

Only a few reputed corporate scholarships are available. However, government assistance based on parental income can be availed. Full Education loan is available. Pocket expenses can also be availed as a part of the loan.
