Most of the management degree aspirants that one comes across have undoubtedly come across IIM Kozhikode, and it is rightly so. Located at the hilltop of Kozhikode, IIMK is among India's most picturesque management colleges. So much so that it has become synonymous with 'resort stay'. Albeit, unlike a resort stay, the residents or students at the Indian Institute of Management Kozhikode have to grind day in and day out to perform the best in their studies. 

Helming among the best B-schools in the country, IIMK has been successful in building its name and stands distinguished from its counterparts. It has been consistent in introducing newer modules or subjects. These programs cover various topics related to business and management or other skill developments. Top-rated Academics

It is no surprise that IIM Kozhikode is dedicated to providing high-quality education. Irrespective of the specialisation one chooses, the students unanimously agreed that it is an excellent value for money. The entire teaching process is designed to keep the student's interest focused and simultaneously deliver the most current information. The classes include a good amount of peer-to-peer interaction, group discussions, case studies, etc.

This eventually helps the pupils develop communication skills. The administration and faculties are constantly reviewing the curriculum and making changes accordingly to keep it abreast and relevant to the current market demand. The academic life is rigorous. It also needs to be kept in mind that the pupils also have to spend on their accommodation, food bills, and other expenses.

Taking all the conditions into account, studying at IIMK becomes very expensive. However, students can easily avail of various student loans, and the institute fully supports the students in availing them. The administration offers scholarships to ease the burden of fees.

Renowned and Expert Faculties

The faculty members at the Indian Institute of Management, Kozhikode, are exceptional. All of them are highly qualified with many years of experience. When it comes to its facilities, IIMK has built a world-class infrastructure. It has a well-established LAN/WAN, allowing the students to get Apple exposure.

All the classrooms are air-conditioned and built in an auditorium style. This fosters more interaction between the students. The institute houses an impressive library with 30,000 square feet of dedicated space. It houses research journals, magazines, periodicals, etc. The classrooms are spacious and well-ventilated. The premises are always well-maintained and kept clean.

The campus has ramps and other facilities that help the differently abled students and staff go around the campus hassle-free. IIMK also achieved a historical feat by opening the first-ever Indian Business Museum. The campus also has several auditoriums and seminar halls. 

The campus has no dearth of flooding nooks and corners. There is a cafeteria and mess where the students can enjoy food. However, the students have expressed mixed feelings online about the food quality. While some are satisfied with the variety and quality of food, others have been left feeling discontent. They complained about the average quality of food while also saying there are only a few vegetarian options.

The best part is that there is a dairy inside the campus, which caters to the students in the late night hours. IIMK encourages entrepreneurship, and the PGP students have developed a unique delivery app called “Bhook Lagi”, which delivers food from several restaurants in the city to the campus. 

Plush Hostels

The hostel at the Indian Institute of Management, Kozhikode, is available to every incoming student. It offers one of the most comfortable and updated living conditions. The hostel rooms are air-conditioned and available as single or double-sharing rooms. The rooms are spacious and well-ventilated, with ample natural lighting.

All the rooms have basic amenities such as bed, table, chair, wardrobe, cupboard, etc. There are dedicated recreational areas, a gym, and more. The internet connectivity is good inside the accommodation facility. There are canteen facilities which also cater during the late night hours. The total hostel fees come to approximately INR 1,50,000 per year. Even though the hostel provides unmatched facilities, it might be expensive for many students.

High Placement Record

Needless to say, what makes IIM, Kozhikode, stand true to its name is placements. The institute has a 100% placement record. Also, the students bag the most competitive and lucrative compensation for their job roles. The IIMK placement committee is responsible for the smooth running of the recruitment process.

The cell also conduct special training for the students. These include leadership sessions, career-building sessions, pre-placement talks, and many more such activities. Specialised cells at the institute help the students set up their ventures.

Inasmuch as the academic life is hectic at IIM Kozhikode, the students do not fall back in fully participating in their campus life. It is full of entertaining events all around the year. Upon entering the institution, the students enrol in various clubs according to their interests. These clubs arrange events related to their fields.

IIMK also has its famed annual college fest called ‘Echoes’. This fest includes dance, singing, concerts, and other thrilling events. Regular sports events are also held, and students are actively encouraged to participate in them.

Since students from across India get admission, a diverse culture and crowd are present. This can be seen both in students and faculties. They also have implemented specific procedures to ensure the marginalised students are inducted fully per the norms. There can also be a healthy balance between the male and female students. Because of the international exchange program, students also get the opportunity to explore cultures globally.

The institution does not follow any strict dress code or uniforms. However, on formal occasions, students are expected to wear by the event. It can be tiresome for students to follow various rules and regulations. However, such rules only ensure a safe and secure environment. To further ensure it, the campus also has an excellent security system. The institute also has strict attendance policy which the students must adhere to. Filing to do so will have serious effects.

Students have often expressed that there is no typical day at IIMK. Every new day brings forth new challenges and new opportunities to learn and grow. The memories that are created become life-long companions with the students.

Is IIM Kozhikode Worth it?

Undoubtedly, IIM, Kozhikode, offers one the best academic learning opportunities coupled with an enriching campus experience. However, to get into it, one has to crack one of the toughest exams in the country. Which is the Common Admission Test, more popularly known as the CAT exam. But once it is cracked, there is no looking back. The placements are one of the most prominent features that attract the students for admission here. And in doing so, it offers one of the best brand values.
