Himachal Pradesh University, [HPU] Shimla was established in the year 1970 as a state government university. The campus of HPU Shimla is located in Summer Hill area of Shimla, Himachal Pradesh and has an area of 200 acres. HPU Shimla is accredited by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) with ‘A’ grade, and is recognized by the University Grants Commission (UGC).

HPU Shimla is a member of Association of Indian Universities (AIU) and Association of Commonwealth Universities (ACU). HPU Shimla offers certificate, diploma, undergraduate, postgraduate and doctorate level programmes in the fields of engineering, science, management, education, law, commerce and medical. HPU admisson 2022-23 is open for the PhD program. The HPCET 2023 will be conducted on May 14, 2023, and the registration process will commence in March 2023.

HPU Shimla Eligibility Criteria

Students must satisfy the below mentioned eligibility criteria before applying for admission into courses offered by HPU Shimla.

HPU Shimla B.Tech Eligibility

• Candidates must have 50% marks in 12th standard completed with Physics, Mathematics and any one of other elective subjects.
• Candidates must appear for Common Entrance Test (CET) of HPU Shimla.
• Candidates must not be more than 22 years old.

HPU Shimla MBA Eligibility

• Candidates must have a bachelor’s degree with 50% marks.
• Candidates must have appeared for HPU-MAT.

HPU Shimla M.Phil Eligibility

• Candidates must have appeared for the entrance test.
• Candidates must have a master’s degree in a relevant field with 55% marks.

HPU Shimla Admission 2024

On the official admission website of HPU Shimla, candidates interested in getting admitted into courses offered by HPU Shimla must get themselves registered and then fill up the admission form pertaining to their programme. Application fees need to be paid and supporting documents like marksheets and certificates need to be submitted along with the application form. The candidates will either be directly admitted to the course based on their qualifying exam and/ or entrance exam scores, or will be shortlisted and invited for further admission process like interview, written test and group discussion.

HPU Shimla Campus

The campus of HPU Shimla is located in Summer Hill area of Shimla, Himachal Pradesh. The campus has an area of 200 acres and sports all the infrastructure facilities required to make it an ideal knowledge exchange and living environment for the students and faculties. The whole campus of HPU Shimla is connected to the internet via wi-fi. Also, all the extracurricular activities conducted by the students of HPU Shimla are hostel on the campus itself.

HPU Shimla Hostel Details

HPU Shimla offers separate hostel facilities for boys and girls. There are four boys hostels with accommodation capacity of about 589 and ten girls hostels with accommodation capacity of about 1058 girls. Chief wardens and individual hostel wardens are assigned to make arrangements for all the needs that the students might face during their stay. Mess facilities, supervision and security, common TV room, reading room, indoor games for recreation etc. are the basic amenities on offer at HPU Shimla hostels.

HPU Shimla Infrastructure

HPU Shimla has been offering top quality infrastructure to its students and staff to make sure that they always have the best learning experience at the campus. Directorate of Correspondence Course was established in the year 1971 at HPU Shimla, which was later renamed as International Centre for Distance Education and Open Learning (ICDEOL). This body under the university offers various professional courses to students worldwide without them requiring to visit the campus. HPU Shimla was a pioneer in the field of distance education in the 1970s. The ICDEOL offers undergraduate and postgraduate level programmes in the fields of arts, education, commerce, science and management.

Himachal Pradesh University Alumni Association (HPUAA) was established in the year 2012 with the goal of benefiting the alumni, their alma mater and the society as a whole.
