The GVP College of Engineering, Vishakapatnam was established in 1996. As being one of the top engineering colleges in Andhra Pradesh, the college has been given the status of "Autonomous" by University Grant Commission [UGC]. It has the best team of highly qualified faculty. It helps in the establishment and management of the Indo-German Institute of Advanced Technology, Visakhapatnam since 2005, as GVPCE has a tie-up with the Government of Andhra Pradesh and the Government of Germany. GVP Admission is based on merit in the qualifying examinations. The college provides various undergraduates and postgraduates courses in the field of Engineering and Computer Applications.

The college provides state-of-art-infrastructure facilities to create an excellent learning environment for the students. It also established a dedicated center for innovation and incubation to promote a culture of creativity, innovation, and entrepreneurship with 15+ startups. A large number of students of the college were placed in various reputed companies. GVP College of Engineering is Partner with the Government of Andhra Pradesh and the government of Germany (GTZ) in establishing and managing the Indo-German Institute of Advanced Technology, Visakhapatnam since 2005.

1. The Library at GVPCE has a rich collection of books, journals, project reports, CDs and DVDs, online databases, micro documents, etc.
2. Health care services, 24 hours of ambulance services are provided to the students and staff. 
3. Gayatri Multi-Specialty hospital is located at 4 km distance from the college campus and in case any emergency patients are shifted to the hospital.
4. The college provides sports facilities like Basketball Court, Cricket Ground, Cricket Practicing Nets, Tennis Court, Throwball and Volleyball Court, 200 mts Track and Field, etc.
5. The canteen having a seating capacity of 250 that serves healthy and hygienic food.
6. The college provides transport facility comprising of 14 buses for students, 2 for staff operates from the different locations of the city.
7. Other facilities include Bank, Post Office, Stationery Shop, Internet and Intranet Facility, etc.
