Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Open University was founded by Act No.14 of 1994 passed by the Gujarat State Legislature and assented to by the Governor of Gujarat on 27th July 1994. The headquarters of the university is located at Ahmedabad. BAOU is the seventh open university in the country. It is open to all bodies irrespective of classes, castes, religion, colour or sex.

Course	Eligibility Criteria
B.Com	The candidates have to complete a higher secondary examination in the commerce stream. They must secure 60% aggregate.
B.C.A	The candidates have to complete higher secondary examination in Mathematics and English as one of the main subjects. They should secure 55% of aggregate.
M.A	The candidates must complete a higher secondary examination and should have a bachelor's degree in any discipline. They must have at least have 50% of aggregate.
