Amity University, Noida was formed by Ashok Chauhan, the founder of the Ritnand Balved Education Foundation. Amity University, Noida was India's first private university slated to implement reservations based on caste etc. for both faculty as well as students.The school was started in 2003 with an enrollment of 120 students. In 2011, it had 80,000 students in 240 programs. It now has more than 125,000 students from all over the world.
Atul Chauhan is President of Ritnand Balved Education Foundation and Chancellor of Amity University, Noida. Aseem Chauhan is the Additional President of the Foundation. It was ranked India's #3 non-profit private university.Its engineering school was ranked first amongst India's emerging colleges.Its BBA program was ranked #2 in India.The School of Communication was ranked #5 amongst Mass Communication programs in India.The Fashion Design program was ranked seventh in India.
Apart from the IITs and Delhi University, Amity University and five other Indian Institutes (Banaras Hindu University, Panjab University, Manipal University and Birla Institute of Technology and Science) made an entry to the Asian Universities Ranking 2014 published by Quacquarelli Symonds (QS).
In 2014, Amity University has been named by Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) as one of Asia's top 300 universities.
