Mumbai University grading system is followed uniformly across all the state institutions. Knowing and understanding the grading and credit system in a thorough manner helps the student while preparing for the examination.
The Mumbai University grading system has a difference of 5-19% when compared to other universities. The University of Mumbai has a seven-point ranking system, with 'O' indicating 70 and above, 'A' indicating 60 to 69.99, 'B' indicating 55 to 59.99, and 'C' indicating 50 to 54.99 with 4 GPA.
To secure a top grade, students should score above 70 percent. Semester grade point average (SGPA) is recorded for each semester. The average out of a program is taken as CGPA. For example, students with a CGPA of 6.29 on 96 earned credits will have an ‘A’ grade overall.

Mumbai University Grading System
The Mumbai University grading system is based on semester-wise performance. The assessment of every student is to be carried out through various modes of examinations like internal assessment and end-semester examination. Internal assessment includes class tests, home assignments, group or individual course projects. The weightage of Internal Assessment is 20, and End Semester Examination is 80 percent. In laboratory courses, continuous assessment is carried out.

Common Grading System
The Mumbai University grading system is calculated on the following basis allocated by the Mumbai University. The final grade is calculated by adding theory and practicals marks. As per the recent regulations, courses are assessed on a ratio of 40:60 between internal assessment and end-of-semester exams. The passing segment is based on a student passing in at least two segments, internal assessment, and end semester assessment. The passing percentage as per the Mumbai university grading system is 40-60 respectively in assessment.

Mumbai University Credit and Course Requirements
Based on the recently introduced semester-based credit system, students should have a minimum number of credits to graduate from the program. The credit required to graduate the degree varies by institution. The requirements of academic work for a particular degree is measured in terms of credits. The Mumbai University grading system considers the number of hours of instruction per week for the course. For courses like BSc, Bcom, and BA, the internal marks are not taken for valuation. Instead, the marks are valued based on their performance in the previous semester.
