NIFT Admission Process 2026
The NIFT exam consists of two tests: the General Ability Test (GAT) and the Creative Ability Test (CAT). The GAT will be administered in a centre-based system, whereas the CAT will be completed offline. GAT is required for all design programs, except B.Des and M.Des, where you must also complete the CAT written test.
You must receive qualifying scores in the written exam to progress to the next step of the admission process, which is the Situation Test/Personal Interview (PI). The final merit list is created based on the results of the written test and Situation Test/Personal Interview (PI).
The one taking exam for NIFT B.Des admission must have passed your class 12th in any stream (Science, Commerce, Arts) with a minimum of 50% marks from any recognized board, or have completed a 3-4 year Diploma recognized by AICTE or a State Board of Technical Education, and be under the age of 24 as of August 1st of the year of admission.
Your interested in pursuing B.F.Tech at NIFTS must have completed 10+2 with at least 50% marks and Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics as required subjects from any recognised board.
