NID DAT Result 2026 (B.Des & M.Des): Prelims and Mains Result, Scorecard, Rechecking, Tie-Breaking Policy

The National Institute of Design will issue the NID DAT Prelims 2026 results in the first week of April 2026 for the B.Des programme and in the third week of February 2026 for the M.Des programme. The rechecking window will also open with the release of the preliminary results for UG and PG programs. NID DAT Prelims 2026 Results will be announced solely on the official admissions website (https://admissions.nid.edu) according to the schedule given by NID. To view the DAT Prelims results, log in to the result portal with your email address and date of birth.

NID DAT 2026 Mains Results for B.Des are expected to be released in the third week of May 2026. Along with the results, the NID rechecking window and campus preference window will open in the third week of May 2026.

NID DAT Mains Results for M.Des will be available in the first week of May 2026. Re-checking the window and seat allocation, payment of token fees, and document uploading will all begin with the release of the NID DAT Mains Result in the first week of May 2026.

Steps to Check NID DAT Result 2026

The instructions for checking NID DAT 2026 results are shown below.

Step 1: Tap on the results link.

Step 2: In the login window that opens, input the following details:

• Email ID
• Date Of Birth

Step 4: When you log in, the DAT Mains results will appear on the screen.

Step 5: Download and print the results.

Information Printed on the NID DAT Scorecard

The DAT Prelims scorecard will include the following details.

• Name of the program
• The candidate's name
• Roll number and category applied to Part I (Objective). Score: Part II (Subjective) Score (Total)
• Qualifying status indicates whether the candidate has been tentatively shortlisted or not.

NID DAT Result Recheck 2026

The rechecking window for the NID DAT (Prelims) B.Des results is expected to open in the first week of April 2026 and last one day. Rechecking Request for DAT Prelims for M.Des is planned to open in the third week of February 2026 at 6 p.m. It will also be open for one day.

The NID Mains Exam has a rechecking window for both the B.Des and M.Des programmes. The rechecking window for the B.Des programme is projected to open in the third week of May 2026, while the M.Des programme will open in the first week of May 2026.

NID DAT Rechecking Process

The rechecking process was limited to:

• Whether all responses have been noted.
• Whether there was an error in totalling the marks for each question in Part II of the answer booklet and in properly transferring the marks to the first cover page.

It should be noted that no other aspects of the answer booklet were re-evaluated throughout the rechecking process. Candidates have to pay a fee of INR 2,000 per discipline (estimated) for their requests.

NID DAT Prelims Result Re-Evaluation

Check the key points to keep in mind regarding  NID result rechecking below:

• Candidates can only submit a request for re-checking of the NID answer booklet online on the exam's official website.
• The institute will refuse any request sent via email
• The institute will not process re-checking requests that do not include a scanned copy of the NID admit card, signed by the invigilator and bearing the test centre's seal. 
• The charge for re-checking NID results is Rs 2,000 (estimated). Candidates must pay the cost online.
• Details about how to submit NID findings for re-checking/re-evaluation will be released in due time.
• Candidates will get a notice regarding the modification of marks at their registered email address.

NID DAT Result 2026 Tie-Breaking Policy

If two or more candidates receive the same score on the NID DAT 2026 exam, a tie-break policy will be used to establish the merit ranks. See the tie-breaking policies for the B.Des and M.Des programs below.

NID DAT 2026 Result (Prelims)

The tie-breaking system for the B.Des and the M.Des programmes will be applied to the applicants who obtain the same DAT Prelims score.

B.Des Tie-Breaking Policy

Candidates who score higher in DAT-section B are assigned a higher overall ranking, as are those who score higher in DAT-section A. If there are still tied scores, both candidates will receive the same overall ranking.

M.Des Tie-Breaking Policy

The overall ranking will be determined according to DAT-section II/III, according to who scores higher. If both candidates have the same score in DAT-section II/III, the overall ranking will be determined by who scored higher in DAT-section I. If still tied, both candidates will be assigned an overall ranking.

NID DAT 2026 Result (Mains)

If applicants achieve equal scores in the DAT Mains, the following tie-breaking policy will be applied to establish their merit ranks.

Tie-breaking Policy for the B.Des program

• A higher rank will be granted to the candidate who scored higher in the DAT Mains.
• If the tie remains, the candidate who scored higher on Stage 1 of the Design Aptitude Test will be given a higher rank.
• If the tie remains inconclusive, the candidate with the higher score in Stage 1 Design Aptitude Test Part B will be given a higher position.
• If this does not break the tie, the candidate with the highest score in Stage 1 Design Aptitude Test Part A will be given a higher ranking.
• If this does not break the tie, the individual who received the highest score in the DAT Mains exam question with the most points will be given a higher position.

Tie-break Policy for M.Des program

A higher rank will be granted to the candidate who scored higher in the DAT Mains.

• If this does not break the tie, the candidate with the highest DAT Mains- Studio score will be given a higher position.
• If this does not break the tie, the candidate with the highest DAT Prelims score will receive a higher rank.
• If this does not break the tie, the candidate with the highest DAT Prelims Part II/III (Subjective) score will be given a higher position. 
• If this does not break the tie, the candidate with the highest DAT Prelims Part II/III (Subjective) score will be given a higher position.
• If this does not break the tie, the candidate with the highest score in the DAT Mains exam question, which carries the most points, will be given a higher ranking.
• If this does not break the tie, applicants will be allocated the same rank.
