University of Mumbai Admission 2019

  • There are certain disciplines at Bachelor and Master level where Mumbai University admission 2019 differs. 
  • The selection of candidates is based on Merit list prepared by the university. The admission to some of the courses is given on the basis of the entrance exam conducted by Mumbai University.

Mumbai University Application Form

  • Mumbai University Admission Form is available both Online and Offline from Campus Office. The candidates wishing to apply online can get the form from the official portal of the varsity. The students who want to apply offline can buy a form from Campus office.
  • The Admission Form Sale started on May 29 and will end on June 7. The students of the affiliated college have to mention the college and the course to be taken properly. They must attach their mark sheet as the selection is based on Merits only.
  • There is the separate portal for Mumbai University  IDOL courses with Repeater and Freshers details in the Official Website. 
  • There is Separated portal for International Students. The NRIs have to carry the prescribed documents with them for the Admission.

Mumbai University Admission Fee 

The varied courses offered have Mumbai University fee structure differs.

The Bachelor of Technology and Engineering admission fee is INR 60,000

Whereas the fee for Master degree on the above disciplines is INR 90,000

Mumbai University Entrance Test

  • The University of Mumbai conducts an entrance test for a few subjects and those subjects are very tough. Most of the courses are Merit Based selection only.
  • The candidates applying for affiliated college have to check the merit list published by the college. The Document verification process starts after the release of Merit List by the college. The Entrance exam is conducted for an MA in Communication, MA in Public Relations, MA Electronic Media, MA in Film Studies.
  • These courses conduct Written, Interview and Group Discussion to give Admission at Mumbai University or Affiliated College.

Mumbai University Entrance Exam Pattern

  • The Entrance Test is taken only for certain specialisation in MA, The Exams are conducted in three phases written test-Group Discussion- Interview. Each phase has 100 marks and the candidate has to answer in English.
  • For Masters of Arts, a candidate who is qualified from different a University or has done his Bachelor in a different Discipline a written test is conducted on him on 2 papers. One an essay on the subject and the other to measure the general acquaintance of the candidate on the subject.
  • MA in Communication & Journalism/ Public Relation/ Film Studies/ Electronic Media candidates has to write an Essay between 500-800 words written in English, Hindi or Marathi and present testimonies(150 words each) of at least two teachers who have personally guided the student in school or college. The candidate is to attach the Essay( must contain an argument of the candidate has to choose the course) and the testimonies ( must mention the time period the teacher is associated with the student) along with the Application Form without which he can not appear written test.
  • In the written test, he is asked to give an answer to four questions as debate and Discussion. The Written test comprising 100 marks will assess the grammar, creative writing, knowledge on contemporary topics, originality, articulation and word management.

  • In Group Discussion the students will be given a topic to discuss and debate. In this round, the candidate is assessed for language (25 marks), articulation (25 marks), content (25 marks) and present (25 marks) 
  •  In Interview Round the students are judged on the basis of language (25 marks), presentation (25 marks), clarity of purpose (25 marks) and overall impression (25 marks). The candidate has to secure 150 marks in the Entrance test to be selected for a seat in Mumbai University Admission. 

Mumbai University IDOL Admission 2019

Mumbai University offers the corresponding courses at UG and PG level through the Institute of Distance Education and Open Learning approved by Distance Education Bureau of India. The courses in IDOL is offered for the First Year, Second Year and Third Year Students on the following Discipline. BA, B.Com, B.Sc (Computer Science) FY, SY, and TY.

Mumbai University UG Admission 2019

  • The candidates want to take admission in Mumbai University should know that there is no Entrance  test conducted by the University for Bachelor Degree Course the mark of the student in the last qualifying exam is given preference in addition to that the candidate passed out from different universities have to produce their migration certificate and take a Provisional certificate from the Registrar of Mumbai University.
  • The candidate of Bachelor in special Discipline has to take care of some more requirements needed for admission like the aptitude test organised by the Concerned Authority. Mumbai University provides Degree in BA, B.Com, B.Sc, LLB, B.Tech, B.Text, B. Chem etc. The University conducts an entrance test in certain disciplines of Science.

  • The applicant of Mumbai University( Kalina Campus or other affiliated colleges of Mumbai University) is to apply online for the Entrance exam called PET(Ph.D Entrance Test). The online link is there on the official website of Mumbai University. Mumbai University invites for online application only and no offline mode is accepted.
  • The PET exam is followed by an interview test. The Entrance exams are regulated two times in a year. Jan-Feb and July -Aug. Candidates qualified in GATE, NET, SET, JRF, CSIR, ICAR are considered eligible for admission without appearing PET exam organised by Mumbai University.
  • The applicant of Ph.D and M.Phil are requested to go through the eligibility criteria for the required discipline and submit the form online. The application fee for General applicant is INR. 1000 and Backward class applicant is INR 500.

To study masters in clinical psychology you need to have taken at least 3 papers of Psychology in your degree course. I had studied BA with major in psychology before applying for masters. Admission in MU is merit-based. Also, you can give preference and accordingly get admission in one of the 3 specialization fields offered in MU. They are Social, industrial and clinical psychology. The cutoffs differ for open and reserved categories. Cutoffs also differ for the 3 specializations. For open cutoffs can be around 85-87%. For reserved categories, they can be till 65%.

Out of a total of approximately 2.5lakh seats across various courses offered by various colleges under the University of Mumbai, te division of seats is as follows:
