Vel Tech Multi Tech Dr. Rangarajan Dr. Sakunthala Engineering College, Chennai was established in the year 1999 by a couple of Dr.R.Rangarajan & Dr.Sakunthala Rangarajan. It is an autonomous institution affiliated to the Anna University, Chennai. The college is accredited by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council [NAAC] with 'A' Grade, the National Board of Accreditation [NBA], and the National Institutional Research Framework [NIRF]. It is one of the top colleges in Chennai. It offers quality education in the field of Engineering with state of the art infrastructure facilities. 

It has been ranked 19th among the 497 colleges in Anna University results. The college has grown more than expected, this college has received funds more than 20 million from government bodies like DST, ICMRI, CPRI, SERB, TNSCST, INSA, FAER and from huge firms like IBM, K-lites, Hyundai, etc. Gold rings & medals are awarded for university rank holders. Veltech Multitech Admission is based on entrance exams as well as according to the guidelines of the Government of Tamil Nadu.

The institute offers 7 undergraduate and 4 postgraduate courses in the field of Engineering. The courses are approved by the All India Council for Technical Education. The college has many international collaborations with over 50 organizations and over 150 active MOUs. This institute has over 50 regular recruiters with many coming on board for placements.

The college follows a unique methodology of teaching that is directed towards making the student learn industry-oriented subjects thoroughly. This is supported by industry-institute interaction and frequent industrial visits. The students also go through Videography sessions to improve Presentation & Communication skills. The college also motivates its students to develop extracurricular activities like NCC, NSS, and YRC.
