I recently finished my 2nd year and am now interning at a startup in Bangalore, while the course plan is elaborate and covers basic skills required I would suggest students to cultivate technical skills apart from the course plan for a more dynamic profile. Key companies that recruit from the campus include Amazon, Microsoft, Dell, Bosch, Deloitte, FIAT etc. Overall placement is good as long as you have a well rounded skill set.
There are currently a total of 20+ hostel blocks, out of which half are girls blocks and the rest are boys blocks, all the hostels have great infrastructure and facilities. Each hostel has several wardens appointed and caretakers to take care of the students' well being and safety. Each block has different fees depending on which type of room it is. Other than the hostels there are pgs and appartments available for students within campus vicinity. The campus has several food mess, veg and non veg separated with good hygenic food and for those who are unable to enjoy their food there are other options available as well. All hostels and academic areas have high speed Wifi and water filters.
MIT has a separate entrance exam which follows similar question pattern as JEE Mains with a total of 200 question to be solved in 2 hours. The diffiulty level of these questions is below JEE Mains and covers basics of all subjects. One mark is rewarded for every correct answer and there is no negative marking. The typical Cutoff for IT is around 150 marks. While the questions arent very difficult it is a race against time to solve as many questions correctly within the time limit.
The basic class timings is from 8am to 5:30pm. There are breaks after two consecutive classes and lunch breaks, classes are scheduled 6 days a week and vary wrt to time table. The college celebrates all major festivals by making arrangements in the hockey/football ground and all students and faculty are invited. A sight to behold is the diwali celebration where instead of lighting firecrackers everyone releases fire lanterns into the sky and the entire night sky is filled with lanterns drifting away. The college life is energizing and fun and teaches us how to be independent.
