The college provides lot of support for students in matters of placement and Internships. Students who are willing to attend internships can get permission from college and join internship during any time of the year. But the students are expected to Maintain their academics performance.

 Major companies like bosch, Wipro and Infosys among others recruit students from SKCET through on-campus recruitment. Companies vary from IT, Manufacturing to digital marketing and content writing. The average salary package is around 4.5LPA, varying 3 LPA to 7 LPA.

SKCET graduates are working in various fields and companies. A few of them have been involved in a start-up. The number of students who have passed out are huge from the college and so is the alumni network.

The Institute has a lot of infrastructure in place, from the infamous Venkatraman Learning Center  (library) to various labs like SAE Lab which allows students to work on their projects, hone their skills and become a better engineer.

The college offers admission through Anna University counselling and Management quota. Students who have completed 12^th standard in Tamil Nadu can apply to this college through anna university counselling and will get into the college through Merit. The students who have completed their 12^th standard in other state and who are willing to join through Anna University counselling can apply through Other state quotas. Students who are willing to get into the college can also get a seat through management quota. Students will have to contact the college administration for more details regarding this matter.

The typical cutoffs for Bachelor of Engineering in Mechatronics various from 85% to 95% in 12^th standard. While for other popular courses like Mechanical Engineering and Computer Science Engineering the cutoffs vary from 95% to 98% in 12^th standard.

The fees for the various courses of engineering various around 1 lakh per annum for the students who have gone through Anna University Counselling and 1.25 lakh per annum for the students who have gone through Management Quota. To help with the students to pay their fees the college helps the student to get loans. And various scholarships are available from the government of Tamil Nadu. On an average 5% to 10% of the students get scholarships while the bank grants loans for other students.

SKCET has a huge number of clubs. It is one of the nodal centre of NPTEL in the southern region. It has an SAE club and acts as a regional centre. SAE club helps students to participate in various Competitions like Ekart and supra among others.

The photography club helps students to improve their photography skills, it holds various competitions for students to improve their skills and compete with others.
