Students who completed four and half years of medicine must do an internship for a year. College provides free hostel facilities for intern students. After completion of an internship, they can choose to continue to be the junior doctor or to write NEXT exam for higher studies like post-graduation.
Konaseema Institute of medical sciences and research foundation is located in Amalapuram, East Godavari. It is affiliated to NTRUHS. It offers courses like medicine, dental, nursing, physiotherapy, B Sc MLT. There are 200 seats for medicine. It also offers post-graduation courses in medical stream. Eligibility criteria are should have passed 10+2 (Bi.p.c) and Entrance exam is AP EAMCET (previously); now NEET EXAM. After qualifying NEET exam, students who scored well will get a chance to select a list of colleges through online.
A daily routine is different for different year students. Usually, classes start from 8:00 am to 12:00 pm. Lunch break is from 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm. The afternoon session starts at 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm. There are 3 internal assessment examinations for a year along with monthly tests every month. Students can also do projects. Professors use powerpoint presentations with diagrams, graphs, flowcharts to teach. Professors are student friendly and help in clarifying doubts at any time.
The course (INR) fee is Rs 1,20,000(INR) P.A. for an academic year (A - category students). Additionally Rs 11,00,000(INR) P.A. for an academic year(B-category students). Here fees include both hostel fees and college fees. Out of 200 seats, 50% seats belong to A-category and 50% belong to B-category. College does not provide scholarships for any students but government provides scholarships for students belonging to economically backward families. Banks provide loan for needy students but students must submit their certificates for verification in the bank.
