Placements and Internships
- We have strong alumni from Scottish Church College. Zoology has its own alumni.
- There is an active placement cell in the college which keeps students up to date with all the campus drives of various companies that occur all through the year.
- I myself landed a job in TCS in the 3rd year.
- Salary depends upon the job position.
College Infrastructure and Hostel Facilities
- There is a total of 6 hostels present at Scottish Church College, 4 for boys and 2 for girls.
- Hostel fee is minimal.
- PGs are available in nearby areas as many students who are not the residents of Kolkata, come to study here.
- An average PG would cost anywhere between Rs. 4k to 5k per month, including food and lodging.
- The college has its own canteen which serves good food, an average meal costing around Rs. 30.
- The infrastructure is also good, with all modern amenities including smart classrooms and labs equipped with modern instruments.
- There is a huge digitalised central library and apart from that, each department has its own departmental library.
Entrance Exams and Admissions
- Scottish Church College is being one of the top science colleges in Kolkata, has a pretty high cut off.
- There is a web-based admission procedure, where we needed to apply putting in all the information requested including marks in the 12th standard.
- The merit list is put up, strictly based on merit, and candidates are called up for the admission.
- Some courses like Physics and English have their own entrance tests which need to be cleared to get admission into the honors degree course.
- Zoology is strictly based on merit and marks obtained in the 12th standard.
- In 2012, the cut off for unreserved candidates was 88 in Biology in the 12th standard.
- Christian candidates can also seek admission based on special Minority quota.
Academics and Faculty
- The daily routine is from 10 AM to 5 PM at Scottish Church College.
- Regular classes are held as per the routine and assignments and exams are held in time as per regulations of the University of Calcutta, with which it is affiliated.
- Quality and method of teaching, I would say is one of the best in all of Eastern India. This is SCC's strongest feature.
- Overall experience in the college is very good.
Fees and Scholarships
- My course fee is minimal at Scottish Church College. In our time it was Rs. 110 per month.
- The scholarship is available for economically unsound candidates and minority scholarships are also available for the students.
Clubs and Associations
- There are a plethora of activities we can have at Scottish Church College including all kinds of clubs and societies.
- An annual activity day is held every year. Also, a Prize day is held each year.
- There is a scope for performing social upliftment by including oneself as a member of the college' s NSS club, which is the most active club throughout the year.
- The most interesting features of this college include it's annual Christmas Concert and it's annual fest, Caledonia, the oldest running college fest in India.
- College life here at SCC is very fulfilling and enriching.

Entrance Exams & Admissions : The eligibility criteria for the student includes that he/she should belong to one of the recognized boards of the State/ Central and should have passed in all subjects that'll be included in evaluation for the admission. For our department (i.e. Zoology) , there isn't any Entrance exam but yes, being one of the top 3 colleges offering science courses in Kolkata, and the oldest continuously running Christian liberal arts and sciences college in India- The cutoffs are high. For 2018 , the general cutoff for our Department was 91% ; OBC, SC,ST and Christian(including minority) varied anywhere between 85- 95% . For admission to the college , you have to apply online when the notification is released (generally by mid- May), on the official website- https://www.scottishchurch.ac.in/ . After the merit lists are released, you'll be called via SMS /E-mail. Entrance Exams & Admissions : There is no entrance exam held for zoology admission in this college and other subjects as well. To take the admission, one has to at least 75 % marks in board exam.
