Placements and Internships
- Tezpur University encourages exposure learning. I am a member of AIESEC, India and via that, I secured 2 months long foreign exchange program to Bangkok University.
- We had to go rural provinces to Thailand and teach school kids English and Maths while staying as guests at one of the teachers' homes.
- Also, as part of our 7th-semester course, (BTech) we are required to do an internship at various institutions across India, be it academic or job oriented.
- Our students have gone on to the internship at DRDO, ISRO, IISC, Amazon, Intel, IITs, NITs, ICT, OIL, BHEL etc.
- As for placements, our students have managed to secure jobs at many a good organization.
- Companies like OIL, Amazon, Intel, TCS, Tech Mahindra, Vodafone, Dabur, Capgemini, Berger, Wipro, Power grid etc have come and hired students from the university.
- Stipends range from Rs. 3.5 lakh per annum to Rs. 16 lakh per annum.
College Infrastructure and Hostel Facilities
- There are 7 girls' hostels and 5 boys' hostels present on Tezpur University campus, each of these furnished with cupboards and beds, desk and chairs.
- There are mostly 2-sitter rooms in the hostels but the two scholar hostels have single rooms. Mess, kitchen, bathrooms are all fine working and kept clean regularly.
- Hostel fee is Rs. 2000 per semester and are included in the admission fees.
- The hostel food is very much like home-cooked food and not very spicy and is a mostly balanced, well-rounded meal. It includes breakfast, lunch, and dinner.
- The mess is run by the students themselves, who are part of the mess committee of the month. The mess managers keep changing monthly.
- Wifi is available in every hostel, department building, and library and is pretty fast.
- A vast 24x7 library is a key to the learning process of all the students here.
- The library is always very helpful to the student.
Entrance Exams and Admissions
- Tezpur University delivers quality education and has been successful in making scholars out of students. More than two decades old, this university has given thousands of educated, well-rounded citizens to the nation. I happen to be one of those privileged to be a part of this great university.
- I got admission in Tezpur University based on my JEE MAIN marks, i.e., the joint percentile of JEE Mains marks and XII board marks.
- My percentile was 93 and I got admitted in the B.Tech course for Electronics and Communication Engineering in August 2013. Since then, I have successfully completed 7 semesters of my 8-semester program.
Academics and Faculty
- Classes at Tezpur University start from 9:10 am in the morning commence at 5:30 pm in the evening.
- But timetables of different courses and programs will vary according to the number of papers and laboratory classes prescribed for each.
- Classes are suspended on Saturdays, Tezpur University being a central university. We are allotted one hour for each theory class and two hours for a Lab class.
- It is mostly classroom teaching. The professors are highly qualified, a huge percentage of them being PhDs in their respective fields.
- Labs are well equipped and very interesting.
- Workshops and conferences happen frequently and guest lecturers visit often.
Fees and Scholarships
- The course fee for BTech at Tezpur University is currently around Rs. 48,000 per year. For integrated bachelor and masters in any discipline, the fee ranges from Rs. 20,000 to Rs. 25,000. For general Masters course, it is around Rs. 20,000 and that for MBA it is Rs. 31,000 and for M.Tech it is Rs. 41,000.
- Scholarships like Ishan Uday and Ishan Vikas are available for students of the North-East are available.
- Also, the scholarship is provided to students who are toppers in their branch.
Clubs and Associations
- There are a numerous clubs present within the Tezpur University campus.
- There is photography club, literary club, a club for musicians, dancers, quiz-enthusiasts, swimmers club, sports club, body-builders club etc.
- The members are very active and hold workshops and contests to invite new talent throughout the academic year.
- Techxetra for the engineering students is a tech fest held in the month of October or November. Inscignis is a science fest organized by the science students in February and Sampark is a fest organized by the MBA students too.
- In addition to this, university week happens yearly attracting students across all hostels to come and take part in many literary, cultural and sports activities.
- Life in college is generally vibrant, occupying most of one's time in activities both curricular and extra-curricular.
