- Placement is good. Companies from all over the world come for campus placements such as NYK Japan, Fleet Management Hong Kong, AESM Hong kong, MSC Switzerland, American President Lines, BW Norway, Shipping corporation of india ltd.
- Salary as a trainee ranges from $375-$900. After training salary ranges from $2700- $4000 depending on type of ship and salary increases as per promotion.
College Infrastructure and Hostel Facilities
- Junior hostel, East wing, West wing, L wing, outer block complex, senior hostel are the various hostels with in the campus.
- B.Tech Marine is completely residential with strict rules.
- Food quantity and quality is good.
- The classrooms are fully equipped with A/C.
- Classroom Workshops and labs are one of the best for marine engineering.
- No WiFi facility.

Entrance Exams & Admissions : Marine Engineering and Research Institute, Kolkata, under Indian Maritime University, Kolkata campus is one of the oldest colleges for Marine Engineering aspirants. It offers B.Tech in Marine Engineering through its affiliation to IMU. IMU organises an exam called IMU CET every year in the month of May - June every year for candidates who want to go into marine related courses like B.Tech and B.Sc. The candidate has to apply for the exam and if selected they go through counselling procedure which is done online. The cutoff for General candidates is under 500 rank and for OBC candidates is under 1200 to 1500 rank.
Entrance Exams & Admissions : The main entrance examination is IIT JEE MAIN to get into Marine Engineering and Research Institute, Kolkata. The typical cutoff is a little less than what is required for IIT's. It is around 140 marks in IIT JEE MAIN exam.
