There are two hostels for girls, as well as two hostels for boys – one for Symbiosis Law School and one for Symbiosis Institute of Business Management. The hostels are well-run. Every day, the rooms and washrooms are cleaned, and the housekeeping staff is on call, but the cleanliness is dependent on how the students maintain their surroundings. When it comes to food, there is a large variety provided – there is a separate committee of students assigned just for the selection of the menu. The first priority is hygiene and the second is taste. The mess provides different cuisines, ranging from south Indian cuisines to Thai cuisines. The infrastructure is top-notch.
The entrance exam I took was the Symbiosis National Aptitude Test (SNAP). The cutoffs for such will be mentioned on the official website since it changes every year accordingly. You are eligible to apply if you have finished your degree or have passed your final degree exams. Work experience is not mandatory, neither a commerce degree. The usual admission procedure consists of appearing for SNAP – and if your score is eligible – applying for the institute, paying the admission fee, appearing for and passing the GEPI-WAT (Group Exercise, Personal Interview and Writing Analysis Test). The results will be announced after a specified time, and the selected candidates’ names will be released in phases.
The class timings are from 9:30 – 5 pm. Assignments are usually group-based, often are case study analyses. Since the number of credits decides the number of exams and tests, we have at least one test every two weeks and get enough time to prepare for exams.
Aside from academics, there is also a mentorship programme available in which students are mentored by respectful mentors from various fields for approximately 10 months, which helps us prepare for the future and gives us a taste of the corporate world outside the cocoon. The clubs and committees provide the students with the necessary amount of fun as well as value. Classes, both online and in-person, are highly interactive and will keep you on your toes.
SIBM-H has several student bodies like academic clubs for each specialization – Marketing, HR, Operations and Finance - a research committee, the career assistance team, alumni coordination committee, corporate interaction cell, a PR and website committee, a mess committee, a literary club, an art club, a sports club, an entrepreneurship cell, a photography club, a cultural committee, and a student council. A student can be a part of two to three clubs apart from the academic club they are a part of.
There are several events in the college starting from the day you join – induction events (online or offline), festivals celebrated like Navratri, Diwali, Christmas, etc., other events like Ethnic Day, Sports matches, etc. The main fest is called “Firande,” and the sports fest is called “Elysium.” Filled with exciting and intense competitions, it is held midway through the second semester. This institute will give you a lifetime of memories – be it friends, corporate relationships, or academics – an enriching, unforgettable journey.
