SSC CHSL syllabus 2023 is different for the three tiers of the exam. In this section, we have covered the syllabus for both the prelims and mains exam which will immensely help the candidates to qualify SSC CHSL 2023. Candidates are advised to go thoroughly. The exam is conducted for the 12th class pass students for the posts of LDC, Postal Assistant, and Data entry operator.

SSC CHSL Syllabus for all the 3 tiers are given below.

SSC CHSL Syllabus for Tier - I

Tier I includes topics from General Intelligence, General Awareness, Quantitative Aptitude, and General English.

Quantitative Aptitude

The topics and sub-topics under the Quantitative Aptitude section of the Tier-I syllabus of SSC CHSL 2023 Exam are given below.

  • Arithmetic: Questions from Number Systems, Percentages, Ratio and Proportion, Square roots, Averages, Interest (Simple and Compound), Profit and Loss, Discount, Partnership Business, Mixture and Allegation, Time and Distance, Time and work
  • Algebra: Basic algebraic identities of School Algebra and Elementary surds and Graphs of Linear Equations
  • Geometry: Familiarity with elementary geometric figures and facts: Triangle and its various kinds of centres, Circle, and its chords, tangents, angles subtended by chords of a circle, common tangents to two or more circles
  • Mensuration: Problems based on any of Quadrilaterals, Regular Polygons, Circles, Right Circular Cone, Right Circular Cylinder, Hemispheres, Right Prism, Rectangular Parallelepiped, Triangle, Regular Right Pyramid with triangular or square Base, Sphere
  • Trigonometry: Trigonometric ratios, Complementary angles, Height and distances, and Standard Identities like sin2 + Cos2 =1

General Awareness

The general awareness section includes:

  • Culture
  • Indian History
  • Geography 
  • Environment
  • Economy
  • Political science
  • Biology
  • Chemistry
  • Physics, Space Science
  • Computer, Mobile, and Technology 

General Intelligence

The  General Intelligence section of the Tier-I syllabus of SSC CHSL 2023 Exam contains the following topics and sub-topics.

  • Analogy: Questions on Semantic Analogy, Symbolic operations, Symbolic/Number Analogy, Trends, and Figural Analogy
  • Numerical Series: Questions on Semantic Series, Number Series, and Figural Series
  • Syllogism: These are the problems in which you have to make conclusions based on 2-3 statements given. It can be done easily through Venn diagrams
  • Direction and Ranking: Basically, an array of statements is given and the candidate has to find the resulting direction
  • Non-verbal Reasoning: Questions based on Paper Cutting, Cubes and Dice, Grouping of Images and Figure Matrix
  • Miscellaneous: Odd One Out, Coding and decoding, Embedded figures, Critical Thinking, Problem Solving, Emotional Intelligence, Word Building, etc.

General English

The Tier-I syllabus of SSC CHSL 2023 Exam has a General English section having the following topics and sub-topics. 

  • English Language: Questions will be related to the English Language. Topics like Spot the Error, fill in the Blanks, Shuffling of Sentence parts, Shuffling of Sentences in a passage, and Close Passage will be asked
  • Vocabulary: Questions will be from topics like Synonyms/ Homonyms, Antonyms, Spellings/ Detecting misspelt words, Idioms & Phrases, and One-word substitution
  • Grammar: Questions will be on the Improvement of Sentences, Active/Passive Voice of Verbs, Conversion into Direct/ Indirect narration
  • Reading Comprehension: Based on the comprehension passage given, some questions will be asked. The answers should be passage-specific

SSC CHSL Syllabus for Tier - II

Tier II is a descriptive type(pen-paper based) of the exam which measures candidates writing skills.

Letter/ Application Writing

  • Application for the post of a manager/ assistant/ clerk etc. in a company
  • Complaint letter regarding trouble faced by common people like the state of traffic near your locality
  • Letter to present views on the effect of digitalization on the youth of today

SSC CHSL Syllabus for Tier - III

Tier III of SSC CHSL 2023 Exam would be the skill/ typing test. This test would be of qualifying nature. It means candidates just have to clear a decided cut off and the merit list will not depend on this score.

Skill Test/Typing test is according to the post for which the candidate is applying.

Data Entry Speed should be 8,000 Key Depressions per hour on Computer. It means the candidate has to roughly type 22-24 words per minute.

For the post of Data Entry Operator in the Office of the Comptroller and Auditor General of India (C&AG) a speed Test of a minimum of 15000 keys depressions per hour for data entry work. This is calculated based on the speed test on the computer. The 15000 key depressions are equal to 50 words per minute.

SSC CHSL Preparation Tips

Soon after checking SSC CHSL 2023 eligibility, a candidate can fill out the form and start his/her preparation.

The first thing to clear any exam is to have a detailed understanding of the syllabus for the exam, which will help the candidate in planning the whole preparation schedule. After checking 

Secondly, the competition is very high in this exam, so scoring good marks will ensure a position on the merit list. For this, the candidate should practice aptitude and reasoning questions continuously.
