Women’s College is an undergraduate and postgraduate college in Kolkata, Bengal. The college was founded in 1937 in affiliation to the University of Calcutta, by a group of devoted scholars under the guidance of Dr. D. L. De with a view to advancing the cause of higher education among women. The college functions as a study center for both Netaji Subhas Open University and Vidyasagar University. It offers various courses in collaboration with them. The college was accredited as a B++ grade college by NAAC (National Assessment & Accreditation Council), in the year 2007.
The students of Women’s College are represented by the Students Union. While student politics is largely non-existent in the college, the student bodies are a vital part of the college. Women’s College seeks to provide opportunities for higher education to girls, irrespective of their socio-economic, religious, and linguistic status. The college believes not only in academic excellence but also in instilling traditional values among the students so as to ensure their holistic development that might enable themselves to achieve their goals in life. The students are also provided various opportunities to participate in various extracurricular activities.

Admission to the various undergraduate courses is granted on the basis of merit in the last qualifying examination. All applicants are required to have passed their 12th standard examination in either the humanities or science stream with at least 50% aggregate marks. Applicants to English, Bengali, Hindi, Food & Nutrition, and Geography courses are required to score at least 60% aggregate marks with 60% marks in their major subject. Applicants under reservation are allowed a relaxation, they only have to score 40%.
