Kolkata's Goenka College of Commerce and Business Administration is one of India's oldest and most distinguished institutions. The college's history may be traced back to 1905, when the Presidency College business programmes evolved into a separate government commercial institute, which served as a forerunner to the current college. In 2003, the University of Calcutta granted affiliation for the establishment of a Post Graduate course in commerce, in addition to the existing B.Com (Hons) course, as a signal of acknowledgment for its excellence. In the academic session 2010-11, the college introduced a full-time Master of Business Administration (MBA) course, which was a noteworthy achievement.
