Recently, University of Visvesvaraya College of Engineering students and public parties have shown outrage and concern over the lack of funding from the Karnataka government. The college has been underfunded for a long term, to the extent that only the faculty's salaries could be covered from the government-sanctioned funds. 

Many faculties submitted a proposal to opt for Bangalore University rather than UVCE. The Board of Governors (BoG) submitted a proposal seeking INR 50 crore funding. However, only INR 22.4 crore was approved. The total expenditure of running UVCE is INR 47.69 crore. 

After much of indefinite strikes and protests from the students, teaching and non-teaching staff, the government approved INR 35 crore for funds to be released for the University of Visvesvaraya College of Engineering, Bangalore.

Inexpensive Course Fees

University of Visvesvaraya College of Engineering, Bangalore, is a government college. The fees for the courses are not expensive and are set at very nominal rates. Since the colleges admit through only entrance exams, students from various backgrounds come to study under one roof. 

Comfortable Hostel Facilities

University of Visvesvaraya College of Engineering provides student accommodation for both boys and girls. The hostel offers basic amenities and is safe and secure. Both the hostels are located inside the college premises, hence no hassle for transportation. 

There are well-furnished PGs available outside the college campus. These PGs are well-maintained and have all the basic amenities. However, since the college is in a prime location, the charges for these PGs are expensive. The cost of the PGs ranges anywhere between INR 9000 - 18,000.
