Academics & Faculty : The evening shift of the Commerce department starts from 4:15 PM and lasts till 8:05 PM with a break in between from 6:15 PM to 6:45 PM. The morning session timings are 6 AM to 9:50 AM with a break from 8 AM to 8:30 AM. Students have to submit weekly assignments based on the seminars conducted on their course subjects. At the end of the third year, they have to submit a dissertation on any topic relevant to their curriculum of about 2500-5000 words which carries 50 marks. The professors are knowledgeable and successfully impart their knowledge to their students. The three years of college life helped me develop as a person, taught me how to deal with the world and maintain social relationships.

Entrance Exams & Admissions : The eligibility criteria for Bachelor of Commerce is 10+2 with English and Mathematics as major subjects and a minimum mark required for admission is 60% marks for general category students. Students can also get admission through quotas like caste reservations, sports quota, NCC quota, etc. If needed, one can avail of fee exemption/concession also. The typical cutoff for Bachelor of Commerce goes around 95% for CBSE and ISC students and 80-85% for WBBSE students.

Placements & Internships : I had received an offer for a content writing internship through the placement cell at White Panda which lasted for a month. The stipend was Rs.920.  Companies offer vivid job roles, i.e., every department gets the opportunity to be hired. Companies that visited in 2020-21 are Deloitte, PwC, KMG, Larsen & Toubro, Zomato, and many others.  The average salary figure stands at INR 4 LPA. And each year around 650+ students get placed to their dream jobs through the cell. St. Xavier's College Calcutta Alumni Association (SXCCAA) is registered under the West Bengal Societies Act and perhaps the first alumni association in Kolkata to have been granted 80G Certification from the Income Tax Department and the first in India to have been certified with ISO 9001:2008 Certification. The society had recently organised a free vaccination camp in collaboration with KMC for 18 and above.

Fees & Scholarships : St Teresa's College (Autonomous), Ernakulam Fee Structure. The course fee is about INR 60,000 per annum. Eligible students can avail of fee concessions by submitting necessary documents. The Bachelor of Commerce (Morning) department is an aided course where the students are required to pay for 50% of the course fee.

College Infrastructure & Hostel Facilities : There are two separate hostels for men and women, properly equipped and well secured. The college authorities take utmost care of their student at the hostel.  The hostel fees are INR 7200 per month for 2-seater and INR 6800 per month for 3-seater. The quality of hostel food is very poor. PGs are also available near the college campus. The classrooms are equipped with projectors and white screens. Some classrooms have ACs installed in them. The labs are equipped with desktops, printers, projectors and all devices of necessity. Students also have access to free Wi-Fi inside the college campus. 

Clubs & Associations : Societies on-campus are the National Cadet Corps (NCC), Xavier's Commerce Society (XCS), National Service Scheme (NSS), Bengali Literary Society, Hindi Literary Society, Xaverian Academy of Dance and Music (XADAM), and many more. Every department has a society that organises annual events on campus. The most famous event even held on campus is the annual fest, Xavotsav organised by the Students' Council which lasts for 3 days. Numerous celebrities visit the campus to perform. Another one is Beyond Barriers organised by the Alumni Association on 26th January every year. Life on campus in general is very exciting and full of enthusiasm. Almost every month students get the opportunity to participate in some of the other activities which groom them for the future.
