  • Hostels are there but only for out of Mumbai candidates and hostel fee is Rs 25000 per year excluding the food.
  • PGs are frequently available outside the college but are costly.
  • Food is decent in the canteen and it is available at the decent rates at SPCE.
  • Classrooms are bit old ones but have the necessary requirements like projector and college do have the required library,Labs and other facilities.

ACADEMICS & FACULTY
6/10
  • Normally, we use to have 4 lectures from 9am-1pm in a day and then practicals in the afternoon and two 20 marks exam and one 60 marks exam in a semester were the patterns.
  • The quality of teaching varies as per the teaching staff but on an average it was quite good at SPCE.
  • Every college has some pros and cons.
  • I think from ROI point of view the best one and from teaching point if view it is average.

FEES AND SCHOLARSHIP
8/10
  • Our time the course fee was INR 26320 per year but it was revised as the college became Autonomous.
  • The top three students can get a scholarship of Ratan Tata and others as well.
  • 5-6 students get scholarships yearly at SPCE.
  • Being the government college the fees is the lowest and can be easily affordable when compared to other colleges.

PLACEMENTS & ALUMNI NETWORK
7/10
  • I had not done any internships as I had started my BE project well in advance but there will not be any stipend which will be provided and you can easily get an internship opportunity.
  • All the branches being core the most of the companies were from manufacturing domain. Some of them were L&T Construction, Blue star, Lodha, Tata consulting Engineering, UHDE India, and many more
  • The average salary figure remains at Rs 3.5 Lakhs and the highest salary figure offered in core sector was Rs 5 lakhs per annum and some software firms also visit the college like Capgemini and Cognizant.
  • Almost 80% of the batch was placed until the end of the year.
  • Alumni network is not that strong at SPCE.

Eligibility Criteria and Admission Process
  • Basically, I completed my Btech in Electrical Engineering from Sardar Patel College of Engineering(SPCE) in the year 2014.
  • The entrance examination at that time was MHT CET which was mandatory to appear for admission and at my time the minimum marks required were 160/200 in CET for getting in Electrical stream for Open category and if you are looking for Mechanical than the cut off will increase to 180+.
  • And other eligibility criteria remains same like minimum marks in SSC and HSC and others.
  • After appearing for CET exam one has to fill the CAP form by DTE and if allotted a seat will have to submit the require documents at the college.

CLUBS & ASSOCIATIONS

  • Being one of the top rated colleges in Mumbai, SPCE has a very studious crowd. Definitely you will meet many nerds and geeks. A bunch of cream crowd can also be expected followed by students from the reserved category. Eventhough it is located in the western suburbs and has a 'not-so-accessible' location, students from every possible nook and corner of the city are seen here. Good fun loving life. "Khao, Piyo, aur Aish Karo", quotes a student.
  • 'SPACE' - Sardar Patel Annual Cultural Extravaganza. History of 28 years.
  • 'NIRMAAN' - Annual Technical Festival.

INFRASTRUCTURE & TRANSPORTATION

  • The canteen is pretty big as compared to other colleges, but with 7 branches (SPCE and SPIT combined), it seems a little small. The menu is good ranging from punjabi to chinese to Indian to South Indian. There is a sandwich counter as well. The menu is decently priced. Apart from the canteen, great snacks are available right outside the campus and franky, boy!.. that's a hot favourite among the students.
  • Infrastructure is decent. Campus is one of the largest amongst the engineering colleges in Mumbai. Lack of ACs might pull it down a bit but the natural environment is a plus point. Sardar Patel College of Engineering (SPCE) building might look old but they have the best infrastructure with reference to labs & workshops. Classrooms are average while washrooms are not very clean. Library is very much equipped with truckload of books.
  • The campus also has a hostel facility considering it hosts two engineering, one management and a degree college respectively.

PLACEMENTS & ALUMNI NETWORK
8/10
  • Sardar Patel College of Engineering (SPCE) exhibits excellent records and scores over most colleges. It is one of the oldest colleges in Mumbai and hence has a name and legacy  attached to it. Round about 50%-60% of the students apply for placements, the rest go for higher studies. 100% placement record. Students are placed in companies like Reliance Energy, Leighton, L&T, Siemens etc. Average salary is around INR 3 to 4 lakh p.a.

FEES AND SCHOLARSHIP
8/10
  • Fees for different courses differ from course to course
  • Average is upto INR 63938/- per year
  • I dont have any idea about the scholarships.

ACADEMICS & FACULTY
9/10
  • The faculty at Sardar Patel College of Engineering is decent. They have enough knowledge about the subject to teach and clear your doubts, if any. Not very strict. Students from the reservation backgorund find the teachers extremely helpful as apart from academics, they do help in solving their personal problems.
  • Excellent academics and fantastic placements gives Sardar Patel College of Engineering an upper edge over most engineering colleges. The crowd is a let down but it's definitely one of the top 5 priority list of a student. A must join if you get your desired branch. Autonomy is an added advantage.
