Facilities

College campus provides all necessary facilities in academic and other activities for the welfare of students in their overall development.

Library

The Library of RMD Engineering College has set a vision to satisfy the reader community needs. Our spacious library, the seat of knowledge, entertains and evokes enthusiasm among the students with interesting collection of books a variety of journals are also within reach to assimilate and enhance awareness.

Main Library

The College is endowed with a fully computerized main library with an area of 1065 Sq.mt, which has a collection of nearly 24107 books, 1936 Reference Books, 2500 CD ROMs, 55 Floppies, 35 Audio Cassettes besides subscribing to nearly 142 national and international journals and 43 leading magazines. In addition it has a collection of 515 back volumes of journals and magazines. A comfortably furnished airconditioned reading room that provides conducive environment for its members. Apart from this, individual departments have their own specialised collection of books.We have a separative section for PG courses.The library has a special collection of books for the various examinations, which includes BEC, TOEFL, GRE, GATE (all Branches), and UPSC.

Special Features

• The library has OPAC (Online Public Access Catalogue) facility, which makes easy for the users to access.

• We have subscribed online resources through INDEST-AICTE Consortium from IIT New Delhi.

• All accesses are through Bar Coding System.

• The library has a tie-up with IIT,British Counsel Library and Anna University, Chennai regarding Inter-library loan facilities

• We lend one set of books (all text books) for two hostel students.

• We lend three more books for merit students those who have secured 85% and above marks.

Hostel

Separate hostels are provided for boys and girls. Boys Hostel has 100 rooms and can accommodate about 300 students and the Girls hostel has 20 rooms, which can accommodate about 70 students.

The hostel rooms are spacious, adequately ventilated, well maintained and furnished with necessary accessories. The hostel also has a separate gymnasium and beauty parlour for the girls and a gymnasium, and air-conditioned saloon for the boys. The hostel, in addition, has a general store for provisions required by the student.

Sports

Facilities for playing indoor and outdoor games are provided for the students. The following are the excellent outdoor sports infrastructural facilities provided for the students.

• Two Tennis Courts

• Two Badminton Courts

• Two Volleyball Courts

A 400 Mts. Athletic track of International standard has been commissioned for the students to develop their sports personality.

Department  of Physical Education

The department of Physical Education has made tremendous progress in sharpening and shaping the various skills in sports, increasing mental strength and inculcating the eagerness in students to excel in their performances, thereby enabling them to outshine and register remarkable feats in their respective sporting events.
