Ramakrishna Mission Residential College, [RKMRC], is a men's college that was established in the year 1960. After the Bengal famine of 1943, a few monks of the Ramakrishna Order set up a Students' Home in Pathuriaghata in North Kolkata, to impart education to the youth, which then developed into the Ramakrishna Mission Residential College. It earned its autonomous status in the year 2008 and has managed to retain its position as one of the best colleges in India throughout the years.
Ramakrishna Mission Residential College was accredited with 'A' grade by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) with a GPA of 3.56 out of 4.00. It was also ranked 15th by National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) for the year 2019 and declared as a college with Potential for Excellence ( CPE ) by the University Grants Commission (UGC). The DST (Department of Science & Technology), Govt. Of India, has recognized the RKMRC as a Scientific and Industrial Research Organization (SIRO), which is a tremendous honour as only 26 universities/colleges across the country have been recognized.
