Raja Doraisingam Government Arts College is a general degree college, established in the year 1947. The College originally began as a Private College, affiliated with Madras University, under the Madurai Kamaraj University fold, Madurai. It transformed in 1977 and, according to the Private Colleges (Regulating) Act 1976, came under the administrative regime of the Tamilnadu Government. With impact from 01-07-1981, it gradually became a Government College and is now affiliated to Alagappa University, Karaikudi.
