NIA Pune or National Insurance Academy was established in 1980 jointly by the Ministry of Finance - Govt. of India, General Insurance Corporation of India, Life Insurance Corporation of India, The New India Assurance Company, National Insurance Company, United India Insurance Company, and The Oriental Insurance Company. Initially, NIA Pune was started as a management development program for insurance industry professionals to enhance management skills. Later the academy initiated the two-year Post Graduate Diploma in Management course. The admissions to these courses are made based on CAT/CMAT scores.

Initially, NIA Pune was set up in Mumbai and later shifted to Pune in 1990 with state-of-the-art facilities for learning and research. It offers Management Development Programmes and a Post Graduate Diploma in Management. NIA Admission is based on past academic records, scores in CAT/ CMAT, and also on performance in GD/ Personal Interviews.

NIA Pune Admission 2024

NIA Pune offers admission to PGDM, Certificate, PGP and PhD courses. The admission to the PGDM course at NIA Pune is based on past academic records, performance in CAT, CMAT and the applicant's performance in pre-selection, group discussion, and personal interview. 

NIA Pune Eligibility Criteria

National Insurance Academy offers postgraduate diploma courses under the management stream. The courses have the same eligibility criteria that are mentioned below.

PGDM Eligibility Criteria

• The candidate must have completed a graduation degree from any recognized university with at least 50% marks [45% for SC/ ST/ DA category candidates.
• The candidate must also secure a good score in CAT/ CMAT.
• The past academic record should be 20%, and the performance in CAT/CMAT should be 50%
• Performance in GD/PI should be 30% (GD: 10 marks + PI: 20 marks).

PhD Eligibility Criteria

• The candidate must have an M.Com or MBA degree from a recognized university
