There are 2 hostels: 1 for girls and 1 for boys. The hostels in KJ somaiya are way too good. Rooms are also pretty decent. Food is hygienic. Hostel fees is INR 1.5 lakhs per annum and very less PGs are available nearby, so the hostel is the only best option one can go for. The infrastructure of classrooms, labs, libraries are way too good. The dining hall has a huge capacity. And also facilities like Wifi, gym, jogging track, basketball court, football ground etc is available.
The college comprises of two buildings, of which the newer building takes the charm compared to the older one, but both are maintained well. All the classrooms are air-conditioned so that the studying environment remains conducive. The college has not made the provision for wifi internet connectivity, citing certain security issues, which the students feel could be managed. That does not mean students do not have access to the internet, the computer labs do have internet, but the speed is pretty annoying. The library has more than enough books available for all, even during exam times. The students also have access to an e-library system, which is available to all the students. But the PGDM students enjoy a slightly more convenient facility, by which they get to keep all the books for themselves, that are needed for the semester, pretty cool in a way. The sports facilities are good too with a cricket and a football ground. The college does provide a hostel, but staying at the hostel is not mandatory. The hostel-ites feel the charges are more than what it deserves, rooms are small, but on a whole it is manageable, and in the end, hostel-ites are the ones’ who snatch the larger chunk of fun, in the two years. Also the facilities at the hostel are improving by the day, so no issues on that if you don’t live in Mumbai.
K. J. Somaiya Institute of Management Studies and Research offers separate hostel facilities for boys and girls.
Hostel facility is available. PGs are also available outside the campus. Meal costs are INR 50 per head. and Canteen food is average.
I reside in Mumbai so not have much idea about PGs but according to me, PGs are only for the engineering student.
