Jogamaya Devi College (JDC) is a ‘B’ Grade (Accredited by NAAC) college situated at S.P. Mukherjee Road, Kolkata. It is a women’s college with the status of ‘Center of Excellence in Women’s Education’ in Kolkata. The college was established in 1932 by Late Shyamaprasad Mukherjee. It is affiliated to the University of Calcutta, Kolkata.

Jogamaya Devi College offers various UG and PG courses in the discipline of Arts, Science,and Commerce. It currently offers 10 B.A. General & 10 B.A. Honors courses, 7 B.Sc. General and B.Sc. Honors courses, a B.Com General program and 2 B.Com. Honors specializations at the UG level. At the PG level, the college offers an M.A. program in Bengali, M.Sc. courses in Botany / Zoology / Chemistry / Geography / Environmental Sc., and an M.Com degree with a specialization in Farm Management. All courses are recognized by UGC, New Delhi. These are the following criteria:

1. Candidates applying for UG courses with Honors are required to secure at least 60% aggregate marks at 10+2, and also 60% individual marks in each of desired subject combinations.
2. The minimum marks eligibility criteria for SC/ ST candidates for UG courses with Honors is 40% aggregate and 40% individual marks in the desired subject combinations.
3. Candidates for B.Com. General must secure at least 50% aggregate marks in 10+2.
4. PG candidates with minimum 55% marks in Graduation with Honors are eligible for direct admission to the M.Sc. and M.Com courses.
5. Only demand draft payments are accepted for payment of application/ registration fee.
6. Reservation is provided as per CU and West Bengal Govt. norms

Courses Offered by Jogamaya Devi College

Jogamaya Devi College offers a variety of UG and PG. For example, one of the institute’s  BA(Hons) programmes has specialization in Bengali, Botany and Chemistry. Details regarding the courses and specialization for the Jogamaya Devi College Admission 2024 are given below.

Jogamaya Devi College Application Form 2024

Jogamaya Devi College accepts applications from eligible candidates through offline mode, i.e. in the form of a physical copy which can be collected from the institute campus upon payment of the cost of application form. The application process in detail is as follows:

1. Candidates may visit the institute campus in person and collect the application         form from the fee counter. A nominal charge (INR 200/-) against the cost of application form has to be paid in cash at the cash counter.
2. Candidates are required to duly fill the application form leaving no blank columns. Applications that are partially filled won’t be considered for admission.
3. The applicant must affix his/ her recent passport-size color photograph in the application form and cross-sign it. It is mandatory to self-attest the photograph for his/ her application to be valid.
4. The applicant must attach self-attested photocopies of all relevant documents (academic proofs, caste/ category certificates, etc.). Applications received without complete documents will be immediately rejected.
5. The application/ registration fee as prescribed for the academic session has to be paid via demand draft. The same must be attached to the enclosure at the time of submission of application form.

Jogamaya Devi College offers a horde of 3-year General and Honors degree programs in the disciplines of Arts, Science and Commerce. The basic eligibility criteria for admission to the General BA/ B.Sc./ B.Com courses is a pass in HSC/ 10+2 or equivalent exam from a recognized board or institute. For admission to the Honors degree courses, candidates are required to have passed the 10+2 level exam in the relevant discipline (for instance, candidates clearing the 10+2 exam in Arts stream can pursue the only B.A. Honors program). Selection of candidates is done on the basis of marks obtained in the last qualifying exam with respect to merit. Honors candidates are further evaluated through a personal interview session.

• If a candidate has failed in a subject at 10+2 level, he/ she is not allowed to pursue the Bachelor’s degree in that subject.
• Candidates applying for General courses must score at least 30% marks in the last qualifying exam.
• For admission to any of the UG courses offered by the college, candidates are required to pass the English paper (not less than 100 marks) at 10+2 as a mandatory clause.

Jogamaya Devi College offers 2-year M.A., M.Sc. and M.Com programs under Calcutta University and Vidyasagar University (Mindapore) respectively. The M.A. program is offered in Bengali (Lang. & Literature) .Candidates for the M.Sc. program may apply for the following specializations as applicable: Botany/ Zoology/ Chemistry/ Geography/ Environmental Science. The basic eligibility criteria for admission to these courses is a Bachelor’s degree in relevant subject from a recognized institute or university. Selection of candidates is done on “first come first serve basis” provided the applicants have secured a minimum of 55% marks in qualifying exam. M.A. Bengali candidates are however selected on Merit basis only.

Candidates wishing to take admission to these courses may fill the application form for Jogamaya Devi College after obtaining a physical copy of the same in person from the institute campus. For payment of application fee, only demand drafts are allowed. To be noted that the DD must be drawn in favor of “DDE, Vidyasagar University” payable at Mindapore.

Selection of candidates is done on “first come first serve basis” provided the applicants have secured a minimum of 55% marks on the qualifying exam. M.A. Bengali candidates are however selected on Merit basis only.

• The MA Bengali program including the M.Sc. Botany program is offered under Calcutta University. The rest of the PG courses are offered under Vidyasagar University.
• SC/ST candidates are required to secure a minimum of 45% aggregate marks in graduation in order to be eligible for direct admission to the PG programs offered under Vidyasagar University.
• Candidates can also apply for direct admission to MA Bengal. Admissions are subject to availability of vacant seats.
