The Institute of Hotel Management, Catering and Nutrition, [IHM] Shimla is situated at lush green surroundings with a view of the Himalayan Range. The institute is located on the NH22, at Kufri, it is just a few kilometers away from the Shimla which is easily accessible by road. The Institute is academically affiliated to National Council for Hotel Management and Catering Technology. The Institue and Council both are sponsored by Union Ministry of Tourism, Government of India. The Institute provides the necessary infrastructure for imparting comprehensive training to their students. The faculties at this institute are qualified and experienced staff from various prestigious catering institutes across India. The institute offers Diploma and Undergraduate degrees in Diploma in Food Production (DFP), Diploma in Food and Beverage Service (DFBS), and Bachelor of Science in Hospitality and Hotel Administration (B Sc H&HA).

The Placement and Industrial Training Cell of the Institute provides training and placement in leading hotels. Campus interviews are held on the campus itself and most of the students got placed in prestigious hotels like Taj, I.T.C. Hotels, Oberoi, Radisson Hotels, Hyatt, Le- Meridien, Imperial, etc. and some students got jobs in overseas countries like Ireland and New Zealand and in international cruise lines as well. The institute organizes theme parties, outdoor catering and functions in local hotels during Christmas, New Year, World Tourism Day, Chef Competitions and other occasions to their students to gain experience during the sessions.

Institute of Hotel Management, Catering and Nutrition Admissions:

Admission is based on the merit of the students in the qualifying examination, and a personal interview is conducted by the selection committee of the institution. During the personal interview, students are evaluated based on their communication skills with reference to the English language, personal grooming, general awareness, and the overall personality and student's suitability for the hospitality industry. Students can use sports categories either at the State level or the National level to get admission, and students have to produce documentary certificates in support of their claim.

Institute of Hotel Management, Catering and Nutrition Hostel Details:

Institute of Hotel Management, Catering and Nutrition have separate hostel facility for boys and girls in the campus itself. The hostels are well furnished and maintained by the hostel wardens under the guidance of the Hostel Committee and the Principal. Hostel accommodation is available on 2 or 3 sharing basis. Each student will be provided with a bed and mattress, a chair, table, and a secure storage space. There are 120 seats available for boys and 70 seats for girls. For 1st Year B.Sc H&HA, Hostel accommodation of 120 seats is available based on JEE Merit. If any student leaves the Hostel within 30 days from the date of admission, then only 50% Hostel fee would be refunded. Hostel fee can be paid online in the college official website. The Institute of Hotel Management, Catering and Nutrition also include Hostel lounge with common lounge with LCD TV, Carrom Board, Chess & other
indoor games.
