IIT Indore has been immensely successful in making a mark among the newer IITs. Although students with ranks at a much later position opt for it, it has provided excellent facilities, commendable academic quality, and a good placement record. 

One thing that strikes anyone skimming through online organic student reviews is their satisfaction with almost every aspect of the institution. It is indeed a versatile institution. The campus is reputed for its academic excellence. Perhaps the major drawback that the students seem to face is its location. Even though the campus is located in Indore, it is 20-22 kilometres from the main city. However, students perhaps don't need to get into the city as major necessities are available inside the campus premises.

Top-rated Academics

IIT Indore is famed for its academics. Whether it is engineering or otherwise, each course covers all domains of the subjects. It also keeps introducing newer courses and topics relevant to the technological world. For instance, in 2023, the institution introduced Space Sciences and Engineering.

Indian Institute of Technology, Indore offers B.Tech, M.Tech, M.Sc, MS (Research), and Doctor of Philosophy in various fields. The admission process is strictly based on marks scored in the entrance examination, such as JEE, JoSAA, etc. Students spend years preparing to secure their seats at one of the most prestigious institutions in the country.

However, only some students have expressed their apprehensions while choosing IIT Indore in various online portals. Since it is of the newer lot, they had their doubts reserved. People tend to put greater faith in the older IITs. However, with time, IITI has steadily built its reputation. And once the students get in, they surely are never disappointed. From time to time, IITI has also successfully secured funds and scholarships for its courses and students.

It is well known that the academic life in the IITs is demanding. Students are neck-deep in assignments. As the brightest minds sit together inside the classroom, the tension among the students to be the best is palpable.

High Course Fees

Compared to many government institutions, IIT Indore’s course fees do not come reasonably enough. However, it is not exorbitant either. For a B.Tech, the institute charges approximately INR 9,62,500, while for a Master’s degree, the fee is around INR 1,09,400. For many students, it becomes difficult to pay such high fees. Eventually, though, many of them take the loan facilities which are easily available.

Remarkable Faculties

Almost all the faculties of the Indian Institution of Technology, Indore, are PhD holders. They are experts in their fields and have been associated with globally reputed institutes. The focus of the teaching pedagogy is inclined towards practical learning rather than just theory.

The faculty members are friendly and helpful. They are also available outside the class timings to help the students resolve queries. The faculties have a good network which aids the students in various aspects of their academic life.

High Tech Infrastructure

IIT Indore’s infrastructure is hard to miss. It has built and incorporated the latest technologies inside the premises. Whether it is lab equipment or facilities, all are top-rated. The campus is spread over a huge area with greenery all around. It is always maintained and kept clean throughout the year. The amount of equipment available is proportionate to the number of students. Hence, there is no clamouring for it. 

The classrooms are also equipped with the latest technology and are spacious and ventilated. The library hosts an array of the choicest books in almost all fields of study. 

Since the campus is huge, there is a dedicated transport facility for everyone. However, students have still expressed on various online portals that they face difficulties getting from one place to another. The campus also houses a health centre, creche, central workshop and many more. There are also facilities for e-payments, counselling services, etc.

Apart from the central dining hall, various small cafeterias are present throughout the entire campus to cater to the hunger pangs of the students. Like any high-end housing society, the IITI campus also houses a vegetable shop, unisex saloon, laundry house, post office, ATM, and much more. In short, students barely need to go outside the campus to avail any basic services or products. 

Indian Institute of Technology, Indore’s sports facilities are elaborate. Students can indulge themselves in various sports to entertain themselves. The premises have a robust security system, making it safe and secure for students, faculties, and staff.

Comfortable Hostel Facilities

IIT Indore has clean and comfortable hostel facilities for the students. It has also built new hostel buildings to accommodate the growing number of students. Both single and double-occupancy rooms are available. All the basic facilities and amenities are at the student’s expense. The accommodation facilities come with a dedicated mess facility.

There is ample security for all the hostel borders. One good aspect of the hostel is that it is not very strict about the rules and regulations. However, basic rules must be followed to maintain the order. There is also good connectivity inside the hostel.

Good Placement Records

IIT Indore has a dedicated placement cell responsible for overseeing the successful placement conduction. The placement committee also grooms and prepares the students for the company interviews, tests, etc. Over 110 companies visit the IITI campus for recruitment purposes. It sees a whooping 94.5% placement rate. The highest package bagged in 2022 was INR 56 LPA, while the average package was around INR 23.5 LPA.

Although there is a dedicated cell that looks into personality development, interview skills, and soft skills, the entire journey through the years at the campus makes the students ready to face any challenge in the professional world. With such an academic reputation and rigour, the top recruiters visit the campus for placements.

Delightful Campus Life

The most exciting part of students' academic journey is their campus life. It is where they spent the prime years of their life, 4making bonds for life. They all share their cries and laughs together. And as it happens, IIT Indore has a very happening campus life. Students can be part of various clubs and societies as per their 4interest.

The annual college fest is a huge affair among the IITians of Indore. Student committees look after its preparation, which starts months ahead. Apart from this, there are student selections that the students look forward to. As mentioned earlier, many sports facilities are available to participate in.

Regular sports and cultural events are also organised to keep the students engaged. Being part of the core committee for any society or event is a matter of pride. These also hone the students' leadership skills. 

No strict rules or regulations need to be followed inside the campus. However, certain rules must be followed to maintain order inside the campus. Students also need to fulfil their 75% attendance criteria, failing which strict action will be taken. 

Diver Campus

Since admission is based on national entrance exams, the students at IITI are heterogeneous. Pupils from all walks of life and different parts of the country study together. One thing, however, could be a lot better. The gender ratio at the Indian Institute of Technology, Indore, is unbalanced. There is a far lesser number of female students than their male counterparts.

No Strict Dress Code

There is no strict dress code that the students need to adhere to. However, they must dress as per the instructions for any special occasion. For any presentation or formal event, formal attire is expected to be worn by the students.

Is IIT Indore Worth it?

IIT Indore is a dream place for many students. And in being so, the institute never disappoints. It is a mecca where students are changed personally and professionally for the greater good. The bonds they forge with each other and their faculties, the exceptional knowledge they gain, and the leadership skills they acquire make all the difference. It truly sets them apart from any other institute.
